Job Description
Taylor & Francis, a leading international academic publishing company has an exciting opportunity for a Portfolio Manager. The Portfolio Manager will be responsible for the commercially effective development and launch of Open Access journals in our Physical Sciences and Engineering Journals portfolio.

What you'll be doing:
Your job responsibilities may include the following but not limited to:
- Creates and delivers plans to grow, develop and maximize the profitability of Open Access journals in Physical Science and Engineering
- Manages portfolio to an agreed level of revenue and profitability under the direction of the Global Head of Portfolio, exceeding/meeting targets and objectives
- Fosters in-depth and long-term relationships with current and potential publishing partners in order to maintain and protect current portfolio and create opportunities for further acquisitions
- Proactively identifies and networks with new contacts to drive articles, special issues and commissioned content to your journals
- Maintains a strong external focus e.g. attending conferences, editorial board meetings etc. creating profile and relevant networks in order to increase subject and customer knowledge and understanding
- Builds, maintains and shares a thorough knowledge of market need and competitor activity to inform decisions on new journals and existing journal development
- Manages transition of acquired titles and publishes existing programme to agreed plan
Qualifications
What we are looking for:
- Extensive experience of managing an Open Access portfolio/list of Journals to meet business growth objectives/or equivalent
- Strong subject matter knowledge and proven experience in developing Science and Technology Journals
- Experience of working with publishing partners and Editors-in-Chief, Associate Editors and Section Editors to effectively manage copy flow
- Experience of managing a Journal list/portfolio
- Proven experience reading and interpreting data on submissions, accepts, rejects and financial data
- Resilient, self-reliant and resourceful, willing to go the extra mile; to drive customer and commercial value
- Analytical thinking and logical response under pressure
- Solution finding and decision making
- Excellent communication skills, oral, presentation and written
- Strong team working skills, willing to collaborate, share knowledge and best practice to drive value
- Willingness and motivated to travel to and participate in external events and networks, Covid-permitting
