DAVID C. LAM INSTITUTE FOR EAST-WEST STUDIES (LEWI)
LEWI ( http://lewi.hkbu.edu.hk) was founded in 1995 as a university-wide research centre at Hong Kong Baptist University to promote east-west research initiatives. One of its major themes is Environment, Health and Sustainability Studies.
The appointee will participate in research on Big Data and Environmental Governance in China.
Duties:
a) conduct research projects of his/her own instigation either (i) qualitative, examining how big data have driven changes in environmental governance, or (ii) computational/quantitative, such as developing novel environmental big data analyses that can contribute to environmental policy;
b) perform teaching duties; and
c) join an interdisciplinary research group led by Dr. Kevin Lo www.lokevin.com. The goal of which is to catalyse solutions in environmental policy and governance through knowledge creation and sharing. In particular, it focuses on examining the structures and processes of environmental policymaking and implementation in China. Environmental studies that have strong policy relevance and practical significance will be conducted.
Requirements:
- PhD in a related field (e.g., environmental studies, public policy, political science, geography, China studies, computer science); and
- relevant publication record.
Initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of one year commencing in July 2020. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
