About SZBL
Shenzhen Bay Laboratory, referred to as SZBL hereafter, is a newly established Guangdong Provincial Laboratory. Located in the heart of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, SZBL aspires to be a world-class research institution and intellectual hub dedicated to understanding the fundamental biology underlying health and diseases. About Institute for Systems and Physical Biology
The Institute of Systems and Physical Biology of Shenzhen Bay Laboratory is dedicated to basic biomedical research, focusing on fundamental systems biology challenges by interdisciplinary collaborations. Systems biology integrates computational methods, e.g., molecular dynamics simulations, mathematical modeling, and AI with biophysical and biochemical experiments, and different high-throughput omics techniques to investigate structure-function relations of living organisms at systems level, to unveil the underlying principles that are difficult to study in the traditional biological research.

About Dr. Yaoqi Zhou’s Group
Dr. Yaoqi Zhou received his PhD in chemical physics from State University of New York at Stony Brook and conducted his postdoctoral studies at North-Carolina State University and Harvard University. He was an Assistant and later tenured Associate Professor at Department of Physiology and Biophysics, State University of New York at Buffalo, from 2000 to 2006, a full Professor at Schools of Medicine and Informatics, Indiana University in USA, from 2006 to 2013 and Institute for Glycomics, Griffith University in Australia from 2013 to 2021. Dr. Zhou is well recognized in structural bioinformatics for his contributions in statistical energy functions, template-based structure modeling, and application of deep learning to protein/RNA structure prediction. Currently, he is a senior principal investigator and Associate Director at the Institute of Systems and Physical Biology of Shenzhen Bay Laboratory at Shenzhen, China. He has established an interdisciplinary team of AI/computational scientists, chemists, molecular and cellular biologists as well as software and hardware engineers to tangle the challenging problem in protein design, protein detection, directed evolution, RNA structure modelling and drug discovery. Responsibilities
1.Provide support to the group leader by undertaking research tasks that assist with the management and completion of various research projects including development, design, and performance of bench-based research, data collection, management, and analysis.
2.Manage the preparation and formulation of publications, presentations and research reports arising from the research.
3.Assist in mentoring and supervision of research assistants or other group members.
4.Assist in the preparation of grant proposals.
5.Provide general support to the group leader as required.
6.Maintain compliance with relevant legislation and policies and procedures of the Shenzhen Bay Laboratory, including research ethics, equity and health & safety, laboratory standards and exhibit good practice in relation to these.
7.Maintain fair, ethical and professional work practices.

Requirements
Applicants must satisfy one or more following requirements:
1.Ph.D. in the area of Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Physics or any relevant field.
2.Demonstrated extensive research experience in his/her chosen field of research.
3.Demonstrated high-level interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communication skills.
4.Demonstrated ability to obtain competitive research funding
5.Evidence of strong research potential by demonstrated track record of scientific publications in quality journals in the field.
6.Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team member.
7.Have an experience of student supervision.
