Postdoctoral Fellow

The School of Journalism and Communication is looking for a self-motivated person with a strong interest in computational social science, solid computer science (programming and data mining) background, and good problem-solving skills to join the School's Digital Media Data Initiative. The appointee will be working closely with the School's faculty members on their social science research projects and courses. 

Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in (Computational) Communication, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Science, Computational Social Science or a related discipline; (ii) good communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills; (iii) self-motivation and high sense of responsibility; and (iv) the ability to work independently and collaboratively. 

The appointee will (a) co-ordinate research/teaching needs and provide technical support, including data visualisation, computational social science, data mining (text mining and network science) or server maintenance (infrastructures, parallel computing, and web services); (b) oversee daily operations of the Initiative; and (c) perform other duties as assigned. 

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to two years, renewable subject to mutual agreement.
