PostdoctoralJob Description
The Amgen Postdoctoral program is committed to providing future scientists with an enriching environment to inspire innovation that will contribute to the development of a better understanding of human diseases.
The lab of Menno van Lookeren Campagne in the Oncology and Inflammation Research Department at Amgen is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to study how cross-talk between the enteric nervous system and immune cell populations controls intestinal immunity in homeostasis and disease.
The initial focus of the postdoctoral project is to explore what neuronal pathways in the gut control intestinal immunity during homeostasis and disease. Using state-of-the-art approaches including single cell RNA-Seq, proteomics and genetic engineering, you will have the opportunity to identify novel cell-specific regulatory pathways and to dissect their impact on the tissue microenvironment. Intestinal organoids and genetically engineered mice will be used to perform mechanistic studies.
The postdoctoral fellow will be encouraged and expected to develop an independent line of research based on initial studies and to present at scientific conferences and publish in leading journals.
The postdoctoral fellow will be based at our South San Francisco site and share access to state-of-the-art technology and core facilities
The postdoctoral position is for 3 years with the option to extend for an additional year.
Basic qualifications
Ph.D. at the time of appointment
Preferred qualifications
Ph.D. in immunology, neuroscience, cell-biology or molecular biology
Independent research skills such as the designing, executing and interpreting experimental results as demonstrated by previous publications
Experience with bioinformatics
