Job Description
Postdoctoral positions are available at USA Mitchell Cancer Institute (USA MCI) to study the molecular mechanisms of cancer progression with an emphasis on breast, pancreatic and melanoma malignancies. This is a unique opportunity for motivated candidates to enter a fostering environment of collaborative basic and clinical cancer researchers. Candidates with a Ph.D. and/or MD with a strong background in nanotechnology, cell/molecular biology, signal transduction, biochemistry, murine models of cancer are encouraged to apply. Candidates with hands-on experience in bio-conjugations for the development of either lipidic or polymeric nanoformulations for targeted delivery to cancer cells will be preferred. Bioinformatics skills are not required but would be considered a plus. The USA Mitchell Cancer Institute is a new flagship facility developed at the University of South Alabama. The USA MCI is sleek, modern research and multidisciplinary clinical oncology facility recognized for an exceptional design that facilitates collaborations between basic and clinical scientists. Facilities at the USA MCI include state-of-the-art proteomics, genomics, and microscopy core labs in a recently completed 128,000 sq ft translational research facility. Faculty research interests and expertise at the USA MCI include identification of novel diagnostic and therapeutic molecular targets, understanding the mechanisms of cancer initiation and progression, molecular regulation of metastasis, cancer therapeutics and investigating the mechanisms of drug-resistance in various cancers, cancer stem cells, and microRNAs in cancer.
