Job Description
Two post-doctoral fellow positions in the Department of Physiology, University of Toronto and MaRs center, Toronto General Hospital are currently available. The University of Toronto and particularly the Department of Physiology, where insulin was discovered, has a strong training program in Diabetes research. Topics of research focus on novel targets in the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes, specifically, novel beta cell modifiers involved in the process of glucose-stimulated insulin secretion. Specifically, high-throughput transcriptomic, proteomic and metabolomic strategies are used to identify protein-protein interactions in the beta cells. The laboratory uses a wide range of technologies including electrophysiology, fluorescence imaging, molecular and cellular biology and in-vivo studies, employing several novel genetic models.


The successful candidates will have a PhD degree and proven research ability including publications in peer-reviewed journals and excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience in cell and molecular biology is essential. A practical knowledge of cellular biology techniques is essential.
