Purpose of Position:

BSI are seeking an experienced Power BI Developer to join an organisation to help shape the  business transformation on a 6-month+ fix-term contract based in London.

You must be highly experienced in the recent versions of Power BI and have exceptional knowledge of creating new dashboards to support the business transformation program.

It is essential to have worked with the whole MS Azure stack and been responsible or on end-to-end Power BI implementations.   

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Responsibilities

• Translate business needs to technical specifications, Understanding the needs of multiple stakeholders. Ability to engage with senior management & communicate development in plain language.
• Facilitating the negotiation of requirements amongst multiple stakeholders.
• Helping the business stakeholders envision the future and how their work will need to change to support the future.
• Design, build and deploy BI solutions (on Power BI). Create tools to store data
• Evaluate and improve existing Power BI dashboards and reports.
• Create visualizations and reports for requested data and development of a single plane of glass for multiple data sources. 
• Generation and automation of periodic reports, real-time dashboards & financial schedules based on multiple sources of data. 
• Develop and update technical documentation.
• Extensive database development experience in Data Analysis and Datamodelling, Data Warehousing, Microsoft SQL, MySQL
• Experience in integration of Power BI with SCCM, Remedy, security products & Azure portals
• Designing and building effective dashboard layouts and reports. Utilising the navigation features in Power BI (eg bookmarks, drill-through's) to guide readers through a compelling data-driven story.
• Working with our testing & support team to manage the processes around client User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and fixing any defects identified.
• Publishing reports via the Power BI service
• Shaping an approach for governance and deployment of Power BI in the organisation, including advising on licensing, distribution/sharing, training and support.
• Interpreting the data/reporting requirements of business operational users and Link clients
• To support the exploration of proof of concepts and ultimately satisfying requirements
• To support the test phase of development
• Development and improvement of management reporting

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

• Proven experience as a BI Developer
• Industry experience 2+ years particularly with Power BI
• Background in data warehouse design (eg dimensional modelling) and data mining
• Familiarity with some other BI technologies (eg Oracle BI or Tableau)
• Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude
• Experience of integration with Remedy, SCCM & Azure preferred
• BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field.
• Excellent communication skills, enough to deal with internal and external contacts at all levels, including the ability to communicate effectively with people of different nationalities/cultures working in different time zones.
• Able to understand and communicate professionally, business and commercial matters.
