Power Distribution Engineer (MV)

Job Description
Provides a service to Eaton customers, to carry out the installation & maintenance of MV equipment manufactured within the Eaton Electrical business and to maintain other existing MV electrical equipment to fulfill customer requirements in line with Eaton Safety requirements. Can take the lead to support other service engineers as well as being the primary point of contact for our customers during the execution of installation projects.  Highly computer and IT literate with a keen eye for detail  Ability to create RAMS (risk assessments, method statements) including arrangements for high voltage, high current testing  Harness a safety culture and confident with LOTO (lock out tag out) system of working  Theoretical and practical understanding of MV distribution systems with evidence of electrical qualifications, including but not limited to 3 phase theory, harmonics, power factor correction  Ability to produce test plans for SAT (site acceptance testing) of MV systems based on switchgear specification, scheme drawings, standard tests and relay settings.  Understanding and interpreting electrical drawings with the ability and confidence to challenge potential drawing omissions.  Sound knowledge of MV mechanical installation  High level competence in post installation primary plant testing; o Low resistance/ductor o Insulation resistance o Hi potential/Dielectric o CT Analyzation o Primary injection  High level competence in the safe use of commissioning test equipment (T&R, Megger, Fluke, Omicron including automated test file creation)  High level competence in advanced commissioning; o Function testing of MV switchgear o Inter tripping, interlocking, blocking, CBF, I/O’s o Relay commissioning and the creation of config files from exposure of a number of different manufacturers o Excellent file management skills o Ability to react to breakdowns/call outs and drive through to resolution  Competent in MV witness SAT testing and carrying out customer demonstrations of Eaton equipment  Ability to be lead engineer and work within a team with an ambition to improve the quality of delivery and customer experience  Working closely with project management ensuring deliverables are within target completion dates.  Coaching/developing new and existing engineers where required and a desire to develop further in technical fields  The flexibility to work within EMEA and stay away when required  Sound working knowledge of relay testing in the following areas; o Pick up drop off voltage and current o Directional boundary pick up drop off o DOCEF (directional over current earth fault) o Sync check o Supervision functions (CT & VT, TCS)  Knowledge in the following area’s may be desirable in the future of the role; o G59/G99 o Power transformer testing o Power factor correction o Auto transfer system testing o Differential protections o PLC Qualifications Education level required: HND or Equivelant experience Years and area of experience required: 10 Years + Technical knowledge: 10 Years + Soft skills: 5 Years + What you will get from us Eaton’s mission is to improve the quality of life and the environment through the use of power management technologies and services.
