Job Description

The Lead Design Engineer- Power Electronics for our horticulture product line will lead resources on design and qualification of electronic drivers for LED fixture from concept design through mass production per New Product Introduction (NPI) process, ensuring the product is at the right costs, meeting performance requirement and controlling the program budget and schedule.

What You'll Actually Do:

  • Partner with systems team on defining product system specifications, designing trade off, validating test plan, product & process qualification.
  • Select proper driver circuit topology, components, PCB layout etc. per application.
  • Validate driver options and analyze electronics failures and implement the corrective actions.
  • Work with sourcing, quality and suppliers to ensure product cost, manufacturability and quality.
  • Understand electrical product safety and performance regulation/standards (UL/CE/ANSI…) and apply to product design.
  • Conduct technical review and clear illustration of driver design effectiveness with circuit operation principle and simulation tool, test results etc.
  • Ensure products are compliant with required and applicable international standards and regulations.
  • Manage & maintain engineering database to ensure all documents (drawing, 3D models, BOM etc) are up-to-date;
  • Document patents and design details into internal documentation system.
  • Deal with quality/design/manufacturing issue as needed.
  • Have experience and capability to lead on tech decision making and coach young team members.

Qualifications

What You Need to Have:

  • BS Electrical Engineering Degree 
  • 5+ years relevant experience in power electronics industry.
  • Solid understanding on power electronics circuit.
  • Practical experience on power electronics and proficient in CAD design/simulation. In-depth knowledge of product reliability and manufacturability.
  • Good verbal and written English, CET4 above.
  • Ability to take conference calls during China evening hours with global teams as needed.
  • Familiar with domestic and international regulations/standards on Lighting systems, e.g. GB, IEC, FCC and UL/cUL;
  • Flexible to travel, around 15% working time.

What We'd Like You to Have:

  • Knowledge in LED fixture applications.
  • Demonstrated success in designing power electronic products.
  • Understanding of six sigma or statistical process control.
  • Familiar with selection of electronics components based on design requirement and cost target.
  • In-depth knowledge of product reliability and manufacturability.
