As a Power Electronics R&D Engineer, you will be part of the Power Grids (PG) Business and High
Voltage Products Business Line (BL), based in Beijing. ABB is World’s No.1 in Power Products
Business and the product manufactured becomes the key components to transmit and distribute
electricity. The division incorporates ABB’s manufacturing network for Transformers, Switchgear,Circuit Breakers, Cables and associated equipment. It also offers all the services needed to ensure products’ performance and extend their lifespan.

You will contribute significantly to successful project results in projects in BL Function Technology Product Group/ High Voltage Products Business Line (BL)/ Power Grids (PG) Business in Beijing/China country/NAS region. You will perform product & solution development in power convertor and its application in power quality, battery energy storage, micro grid, etc.

Your responsibilities

• Join the efforts for power convertor HW/SW design, implementing the control algorithm, perform the product test.
• Conduct or coordinate technical and product analysis, develops solutions based on sound technology practices and
• business considerations.
• Maintains awareness of state-of-art technology, market & standard trends, recommends appropriate actions in
• response.
• Coordinates with local, regional and global resources to execute R&D plans.

Your background

• Ph.D. or Master’s Degree, major in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering or Automation.
• 3+ years of working experience, R&D responsibility in products, e.g. Energy storage Inverter, APF, STACOM and SVG,
• is preferred.
• Excellent understanding of power electronics devices and system, familiar with power system and micro-grid.
• Hands on experience with power electronic devices design, e.g. control algorithm design and implementation, good
• knowledge in with HW/SW structure and design.
• Expertise with simulation tools for power electronics area and relevant tools, e.g. Matlab, PSCAD, etc.
• Experience with grid integrate code for energy storage system (or DER) would be an extra asset.
• Self-motivated, high curiosity and ability to learn about new technologies.
• Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Fluent in both oral and written English.
