Eaton’s Electrical Engineering Services and Systems division is hiring a Power System Project Leader to join our team in the Power Systems Engineering (PSE) group. This position will be based out of our Delta, BC or Calgary, AB service facility. Position Overview: The primary purpose of this position is to provide applied engineering and technical consultation for customers in the areas of power systems studies, power quality analysis, substation design and training. In this function you will: Manage assigned projects and job costs to perform work within budgeted cost estimates Interpret specs and customer inquiries and design technical proposals and pricing for customers Provide technical solutions to customers that may involve equipment design or upgrades, testing of equipment, solutions relating to increase safety, reliability, or efficiency Perform engineering design duties, which require application of engineering principles Performs engineering assignments that may involve power systems analysis, power quality measurements and audits, consulting and design services, troubleshooting, and problem solving relative to power distribution equipment Submit to periodic customer required background and drug screenings Interpret specifications and customer inquiries; design technical proposals and pricing for customers. May design and conduct specialized training for customers Mentor or lead other engineers on projects including reviewing and stamping their work Perform all job functions with adherence to Eaton’s Values and Philosophy, as well as Safety and Environmental standards When we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we as individuals and as a company are stronger. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering P.Eng. License Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a power system engineer Knowledge of engineering standards including CSA, NEC, NESC, IEEE and ANSI Distribution System Design Substation Design Protection & Control Design Preferred qualifications: P.Eng. License in BC Bachelor Degree focused in power systems IEEE Membership Active in Local IEEE Experience with protective relays is highly desirable Experience using Power System modelling packages like SKM, ETAP, EazyPower, CYME etc Advanced experience in multi-function protection relays setting files and logic files. Short-Circuit Analysis, LV/MV Coordination Arc Flash studies and mitigations Experience in testing, troubleshooting, evaluating, and servicing electrical distribution and control systems is highly desirable Experience performing power quality measurements, troubleshooting, and analysis is highly desirable Power Quality Measurements and Analysis Harmonic Analysis Advanced / Specialty Skills PLC / Automation Alternate Energy Position Criteria: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to run major studies and projects unassisted Strong analytical aptitude and complex problem-solving skills Intermediate/advanced knowledge of Microsoft office applications Effective time management, prioritization and project management skills Knowledge and practice of safety precautions related to working with electrical and electronic equipment Understanding of the company’s and competitor’s electrical, electronic and mechanical products.
