Eaton’s Electrical Engineering Services and Systems Division is hiring a Power Systems Automation Specialist to join our team in the Power Systems Automation (PSA) group. The position is based out of our Calgary, AB or Edmonton, AB, facility. Position Overview: The primary purpose of this position is to provide on-site implementation of Power Management and mission critical monitoring and control systems including Power Xpert, Foreseer, and next generation Power Monitoring platforms. Also, responsible to provide applied engineering and consultation to customers in the areas of system integration, installation, start-up, maintenance, repair, training and modification of power management control and mission critical systems. In this function you will: Design, install, commission and service Windows based electrical power monitoring systems. Design and develop graphical user interface systems. Troubleshoot and provide customer support for advanced control and monitoring systems. Identify potential business opportunities with new and future customers. Support sales in quoting turnkey power monitoring and control system projects. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Diploma or bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science) from an accredited institution. Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working with Power Management, Power Control, Mission Critical, or Building Management Systems. Legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge and competency with SQL Server and databases. Strong computer skills with Windows Operating Systems and Windows Server. Intermediate Networking skills including the ability to troubleshoot network hardware and interfaces, including Ethernet and Fiber. Advanced understanding of electrical control schematics and power system one-line drawings. Experience with Human Machine Interface (HMI) software and power monitoring software packages. Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, BACnet, DNP3, SNMP, OPC, DDE, TCP/IP, and IEC 61850. Knowledge of common substation IED’s, protection relays, PLCs, metering, event recorders, time synchronization etc. Working knowledge of test equipment and diagnostic instruments for automation and power management systems. Knowledge of cyber security principles with NERC CIP experience an asset. Advanced understanding of the company’s and competitor’s automation and power management systems and services. Knowledge and practice of safety precautions related to working with electrical and electronic equipment. Demonstrated ability to provide service and represent customer interests in developing customer relationships to assure long-term customer satisfaction.
