Eaton’s Electrical Engineering Systems and Services is currently seeking a Power Systems Engineering Project Leader to join our team. This position is based in New York, New York. Position Overview: Eaton has the largest and most experienced team of power system engineers (PSE) in the industry, with industry-standard software and advanced modeling and analysis capabilities at their fingertips. This team brings extensive skills and experiences to power system analysis and design. Active participation in technical societies such as IEEE and collaboration with a variety of utilities and industries ensures that our engineers are knowledgeable about today’s cutting edge engineering techniques. We assist customers at every stage of the power system: from substation and distribution system design to renewable energy and smart grid engineering, from safety and reliability-focused studies to power quality and grounding related audits and analyses. The primary purpose of this position is to provide applied engineering and technical consultation for customers in the areas of power systems studies, power quality analysis, installation, startup, maintenance, repair and training. In this function you will: Leadership Responsibilities Act as single point of contact for customers that have multiple sites with multiple engineers working on studies for their facilities. Lead communication internal to PSE to manage the entire project successfully and provide regular updates to the customer. For customers that have multiple sites and specific study requirements: customize PSE standard report to account for customer specific requirements and review customer deliverables to ensure reports completed by various engineers meet customer requirements and are uniform in format and style. Mentor and lead other engineers with an emphasis on Commercial, Marketing, and Customer Relationships. Support talent assessment & selection for the engineering team. Support others to ensure success of assigned projects including job cost accountability, quality, and quoted lead times. Commercial Responsibilities Interpret specs and customer inquiries and design technical proposals and pricing for customers that have multiple sites and require support from multiple engineers. Perform job walks to aid in the creation of technical proposals and pricing for potential customers with an emphasis on opportunities greater than $100k involving multiple site locations. Assist PSE Regional Engineering manager in internal and external business development by promoting PSE study offerings and describing value propositions. Provide Operational Support including but not limited to: Risk Review, Backlog Review, Job Log Review, Increased Negotiation and Proposal Support. Individual Responsibilities Ability to run large studies and projects unassisted. Be capable of leading a project team, maintain project schedule, attend project meetings, and keep reginal engineering manager informed of status. Understand all parts of larger projects. Provide applied engineering and technical consultation for customers in the areas of power systems studies, design, installation, startup, maintenance, repair and training. Provide technical solutions to customers that may involve equipment design or upgrades, testing of equipment, solutions relating to increase safety, reliability, or efficiency. When we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we — as individuals and as a company — are stronger Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution Minimum of 7 years of engineering experience No relocation is being offered for this position Preferred qualifications: Master's Degree in Engineering PE License 7-10 years of experience Bachelor’s degree focused in power IEEE Senior Membership Active in Local IEEE Technical Paper Authorship EFC Level 3 Certification Electrical Contractor’s License General Contractor’s License Position Criteria: Successfully complete and maintain compliance of Eaton's safety program and policies. Periodically submit to customer required background and drug screenings.
