Objective
• Engineer for the Powertrain Design/Mechanics Team for RD C/PT (Powertrain Development RD China) in Beijing, China
• China is the fastest growing and largest market for our cars. The Chinese market is served by imported and engines at the Beijing plant produced vehicles. In order to meet the needs of the market, the Beijing plant and the RD area are being continuously expanded on site. This is also shown by the decisions for the localization of future engine projects, new pure Electric vehicles and the Implementation of a second engine plant with further capacity for the Battery assembly.
• The department RD C / PT is organizationally integrated in the RD China Center of the DGRC - Daimler Greater China in Beijing. The task includes representing all development-related issues and supporting China-specific developments or self-responsible implementation.
• The Powertrain Design Team and the Powertrain Mechanics Team (both Teams consisting in total of 27 Chinese employees and 6 German expats) are working closely together, and are responsible for ensuring the timely and economical localization of combustion engines, batteries and further Powertrain components for Combustion and also electric vehicles in China. Furthermore, we are responsible for worldwide series support for over 5Million 4-cylinder gasoline engines. Besides that we are involved in various development activities in coordination and close collaboration with the Lead projects in our RD Powertrain Headquarter in Untertuerkheim, Germany.
 
Tasks
• Responsible for the localization of engine and battery components for different Powertrain projects at the Beijing plant and at the Chinese suppliers.
- As local component managers for the engine and battery components you are responsible along the entire process chain: allocation, commission, tool concept, material selection, first parts from series tools, support of try outs, testing, pilot series and constructability tests in the factory, sampling process, SOP, change management in the series process
- Ensuring and testing of localization concepts for the industrialization of the powertrain components by taking into account the aspects of technical complexity, technology availability in China, as well as costs and deadlines.
• Worldwide series support for 4 different 4-Cylinder gasoline engine derivates
- Independent development of measures and "Trouble Shooting" on site in China for worldwide series support in cooperation with other specialist departments and global suppliers.
• Various global development activities for different powertrain projects (e.g. Lead development of components for Combustion engines and Electric vehicles)
- China specific and also worldwide Development activities in close cooperation with our customers in the German Headquarter
- The tasks also include regular management-level reporting in China and Germany
• Other tasks
- Optimization and standardization of existing processes, and the implementation of new processes in order to drive the Beijing site and generate efficiencies
- Technical RD contact for internal interfaces and our cooperation partner BBAC
- Collecting Chinese market information in terms of market requirements, resident suppliers and technologies
