MBRDNA is headquartered in Silicon Valley, California, with key areas of Autonomous Driving, Advanced Interaction Design, Digital User Experience, Machine Learning, Customer Research, and Open Innovation. In Redford, Michigan, the focus is on Powertrain and eDrive technology as well as in Long Beach, where the teams test durability of the latest driver assistance and telematics systems. The Digital Hub in Seattle focuses on developing a cloud architecture and building out the cloud platform for the next generation of connected car services. The Testing and Regulatory Affairs team in Ann Arbor and the Advanced Vehicle Design in Carlsbad complete the competence center.
 
Position Overview:
 
Engine Control Module (ECM) and Central Powertrain Controller (CPC) software release testing, calibration, issue tracking and resolution.  New feature specification, algorithm development, prototype validation, software release planning and OBD Documentation. Requirement specification for new and existing powertrain control software.
 
Responsibilities:
- Handle software functions, including networking (CAN/FlexRay/LIN), thermal management, torque monitoring, safety features, torque coordination, starter control, alternator control, trip display, hybrid operating strategy, HV battery energy management and engine start-stop

- Release Testing,   Identify testing needs, define testing goals, create test cases, collect and analyze testing data, document testing results.  Provide release recommendation to the management

- Calibrate ECM and CPC control functions to meet requirements. Clarify issues with internal customers. Identify and report function deficiency, follow up through resolution. Submit calibration changes and document the changes following the release process

- Receive internal or customer reported issues. Work in testing environments (MIL, HIL, Dynamometer, Vehicle) to reproduce the issue. Identify the root cause, propose algorithm and/or calibration fixes, validate and document the resolution. Contribute to SW releases for all affected vehicle platforms

- OBD Documentation/validation, update the controller SW/Cal based on the latest authority regulations including EU/China-6/US-CARB.  Coordinate validation tests in vehicle/Hardware-in-loop(HIL) to ensure the functionality of the OBD software features such as OBD communications and failure memory function.  Provide the certification departments with the OBD docu packages for EU/China-6/US-CARB, and testing results such as pre-PVE tests and J1699 tests

- Identify and propose new features, create feature requirements, request prototype software, validate and prove new features. Participate in release roll-out to all relevant vehicle platforms. Create requirements to document existing control functions

Skills & Requirements:
- BS or MS in electrical, mechanical, automotive engineering or related fields
- Formal school training on engineering fundamentals, automotive powertrain, internal combustion engines and on board diagnostics
- Knowledge and experience utilizing Matlab, Simulink, and Stateflow
- Strong team player with the ability to multitask and enjoy working in a fast-paced and effective culture
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and can operate with confidentiality
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to travel locally and abroad 
Preferred Requirements:
- Embedded microcontroller software development, testing and/or calibration
- Hands-on experiences on HIL, dynamometer and/or vehicle
- Fluent in German
