Summary of Responsibilities:
Obtains authorization for admission. Conducts financial screening.
Responsibilities: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned)
? Contacts insurance companies to determine patient’s primary and secondary benefits
? Obtains requirements for claim submission and pre-certification process from insurance companies
? Determines contract and benefit eligibility for pre-certification, prior authorization of inpatient and outpatient services
? Works with patients in securing prepayment sources or financial agreements prior to providing service
? Maintains the pre-certification related information in the system to ensure its accuracy
? Verifies the coverage of benefit and asks for the payment guarantee in advance to expensive examinations for all outpatients
? Assists patient on insurance coverage related matters
? Responds to and follows through on patient and insurance related inquiries
? Conducts financial screening for all inpatients (Observation, Day Surgery, Admission)
? Coordinates and answers inpatient inquiries
? Coordinates on discharge process, prepares itemized interim statement upon discharge
? Maintains strictest confidentiality of patient information
任职资格:
? Minimum education- the completion of Junior College
? Working experience in GZU or a similar health care organization or a business setting desired
? Must be flexible to work third shifts
- Additional education/experience may be substituted for experience/education
Skills:
? Excellent oral and written English
? Independent decision making
? Professional telephone etiquette
? Good time management skills and must be able to prioritize
? Must be flexible to work third shifts
? Basic computer skills
? Must work well under pressure and be able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
Knowledge:
? Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance industry preferred
? Knowledge of clinic charging, coding and insurance billing procedures preferred (but trainable)
