YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Precision Genomics Production Research Associate, are to:

 

  • Delivers production throughput targets supporting the GBS workflow in sequencing, library creation, and/or extraction. Responsible for cross-functional work in multiple supporting laboratories;
  • Solves problems of moderate scope related to production; optimizes workflows; validates methods using multiple data sources. Demonstrates good judgment when identifying and implementing process improvements;
  • Operates and troubleshoots production automation; adhering to established protocols and good laboratory practice techniques;
  • Prioritizes and coordinates work within a large team and provides training to contingent workforce; maintaining detailed record keeping and ISO documentation;
  • Achieves commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols and best practices;
  • The successful candidate will thrive on meeting production challenges, insist on high quality deliverables, demonstrate effective problem-solving skills, and possess the ability to build productive external and internal relationships;
  • High emphasis will be on performing root cause experiments and data analysis. Candidate will perform a variety of skills related to molecular biology, as well as biochemistry;
  • Communicating and interpreting results of experiments, production KPIs, cost/benefit analysis, and lab related issues to partners and key stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum education level of a Bachelor’s Degree required;
  • 2+ years of lab experience in academia or industry;
  • Proficiency with experimental design and data analysis;
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to build strong relationships and networks across shifts, sub-teams, and sites;
  • High level of agility to move between functional lab spaces supporting GBS;
  • High throughput laboratory automation experience with mechanical aptitude for operating and troubleshooting automation;
  • Strong molecular biology acumen with the ability to independently design and follow through with experiments pertaining to troubleshooting and optimization;
  • Broad understanding of modern molecular biology, DNA extraction, and DNA detection techniques;
  • Proficiency with Spotfire or similar visualization software;
  • Must have flexible working hours to accommodate the needs of the business (with prior notice). Evening, early morning, weekend shifts, holidays, etc. will be required.

 

Desired:

 

  • Preferred degree disciplines in Biology, Engineering, or related field of study.
