We are looking for a candidate for a temporary position who has not yet graduated and is working as part of an internship towards a relevant Master's from a relevant academic institute. This position is part of a research team in Munich, Germany at the heart of the industrial control and automotive industry and will support a new area of research for the next generation of Internet of Things for automation in industrial control, smart city, robotics and automated driving.
Tasks:
Work as part of the team on robustness and uncertainty estimation analyses of perception and prediction modules present in automated driving, robotics, and smart city applications.
Select one or more representative safety-critical scenarios in these autonomous systems where robust and trustworthy measures of AI models used for these modules are crucial.
Create a demo integrating perception and prediction modules for these safety- critical scenarios using open-source simulators.
Evaluate the impact of uncertainties on this safety-critical scenario using uncertainty estimation and calibration techniques.
Potential impact of platform faults on this safety-critical scenario is also preferred to be analyzed.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate meets the following criteria:
Pursuing studies in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics or other related fields with a focus on Artificial Intelligence
Programming Skills in Python, C++, C
Good background in AI methods especially CNN, LSTM, and their performance metrics
AI frameworks: preferably PyTorch
Knowledge in dependability preferred
Knowledge in robustness and uncertainty topics in AI preferred
Excellent English is a must, German knowledge advantageous

Work Model for this Role
This role is available as fully home-based and generally would require you to attend Intel sites only occasionally based on business need.
