ESL Job in Tianjin and Qingdao

We are now holding interviews for English teachers at our primary schools based in Tianjin and Qingdao, China. If you are a dynamic teacher, have an interest in an authentic Chinese school setting and can deliver learner centered, engaging lessons then we are interested in speaking with you. Right now we have positions for ESL teachers as well as subject teachers (if you can teach some Math and Science) positions.

Our private schools are modern with up to date teaching materials and equipment including projectors and computers. Various student interactions are encouraged in class such as group work, pair work, role plays, project work as well as more traditional teaching methods to add variety to the classes and help create a fun and relaxed learning environment.

All new teachers will receive training on arrival and will be introduced to the school and teaching methods. Teaching materials and resources are provided by the school and are targeted to the age of the students being taught. Materials follow the Chinese national school curriculum and focus on developing all four skills – speaking, listening, reading and writing. Teachers are encouraged to adapt and supplement the materials where need be to ensure classes are engaging and interesting.

Classes are held during the day time from Monday to Friday, with 18 hours of teaching per week, so you have evenings and weekends off.

Teach English in Tianjin

Tianjin is located 85 miles east of Beijing, near the coast. The capital can be reached in half an hour by fast train. As China’s third largest city with a population of over 10 million people, Tianjin has a rich history and has witnessed many important events since it was given its name in 1404. Evidence of its history is still visible in the old British and Italian concessions, the port and European architectures.

The best known scenic spots and historical sites include the Panshan Scenery Area, the Park on the Water, the Garden of Tranquility, the Palace of Heavenly Empress and even a section of the Great Wall of China at the Huangya Pass.

Teach English in Qingdao

Qingdao is a picturesque coastal city that lies on the southern tip of China’s Shandong Peninsula, located in JiaoZhou Bay facing the Yellow Sea. Qingdao is well known for its European architecture and attractive coastal landscape. With its abundance of natural beauty and bustling city life, the year-round schedule of tourist attractions and events, as well as an extensive public transportation network, Qingdao truly is an ideal place to live.

The city is famous for its delicious fresh seafood, Tsingtao Beer (China’s most famous brand), and its colourful panorama of red-roofed houses and green trees overlooking the sea. The city has many spaces of parkland and forest, and is close to the Laoshan Scenic Area which has its own beautiful mountain landscapes and waterfalls.

In 2008, Qingdao hosted the Sailing Regattas of the 29th Olympic Games as well as the 13th Paralympic Games and in 2009 welcomed sailors from the Volvo Ocean Race. In February-March 2010 Qingdao will once again welcome the sailors of the Clipper Round The World Yacht Race.

Main Responsibilities

Requirements

• Native English speaker from UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or Ireland
• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum 120 hour TEFL certificate
• 2 years of previous teaching experience
