Primary teaching librarian

Requirements:
Teaching experience;
Degree in elementary education/ the Subject you apply for.
Teaching certificate;
Native speaker of English
Understanding and belief in progressive/inquiry-based education

Job Description
The overarching role of the librarian is to promote the love of reading and the use of information resources to support learning. In addition, there is an expectation that the Librarian will ensure that the resourcing, development and delivery of the library services are commensurate with a quality school. The Librarian is a key stakeholder in the strategic development of an inquiry driven curriculum including all aspects of Information Literacy skills across the school.

Key Expectations
The Librarian should be able to draw on a professional knowledge base including:An understanding of Information Literacy
A knowledge of how to promote and foster literacy and reading
A knowledge and understanding of library management systems (Destiny)
A knowledge and understanding of the principles and mechanics of good library management.

Strategic direction and development of the school curriculum and library structures Teaching and learning
Management of human resources
Communication and Liaison with parents, faculty, and outside agencies.
Strategic planning and resourcing of a collection that supports the academic programme.
The effectiveness of the Librarian will be demonstrated by her/his ability to apply professional knowledge, understanding, skills and attributes to the identified tasks below to bring about the desired outcomes.
