Job Description

Role Purpose

Working with the research director for Service Provider Strategy, the Principal Analyst will drive Omdia’s research in strategic technology choices and market developments with focus in China and Asian markets. The candidate will produce written research interacting with networking vendors and service providers to deliver market defining thought leadership, qualitative (technology and market evolution; vendor strategies; regional perspectives; customer insight) and quantitative research (market share, forecasts) as part of the Service Provider Strategy and Service Provider Networks services. Develop Omdia’s coverage on strategi issues including the evolution of Service Providers and Vendors in the region. Wireless infrastructure strategies, evolution of vendor ecosystems, and macro-topics such as global-regional supply chain interaction. Support sales through developing thought provoking, on-time, quality research. Drive industry thought leadership and Omdia brand awareness through third-party conference speaking engagements and press/media interaction, whether Informa-owned (Lightreading.com; telecoms.com) or third-party.

Main Areas of Responsibility & Accountability

Writing – Providing qualitative analysis to key audiences with a focus on transformation and development; discuss the impact of technology and key market trends which are shaping broadband access techs and onward services.

Thought leadership – Produce written insights and press material to support research outputs; present at industry events and webinars and use Informa Tech assets as a platform to build your brand and industry reputation.

Research planning – play an active and continuous role in shaping the nature of our research in broadband techs and services, proposing new research topics and representing these to prospects and customers.

Sales support – Partner with the sales team to generate new leads, progress existing leads, and support renewals; use scoping to continually evolve the research offering.

Speaking – Present research findings at industry events and conferences (in person and through digital media)

Building base data – Use primary and secondary research to build credible base data; ensure sufficient coverage of market players; create estimates where company reporting not available; utilise history; ensure consistency with related data/markets; log all assumptions and work in a clear way

Event support – Partner with the events team to further Omdia’s position in the space, to build a platform for showcasing our research, and to develop new research propositions based on intelligence gathered at events

Team – mentor and develop junior team members

Forecasting – qualitative and quantitative input in forecasting

 

Qualifications

•Masters in telecommunications, engineering, or equivalent experience.

•Demonstrable experience at a telecommunications network vendor, service provider and/or research firm

•Industry recognized knowledge of mobile/wireless technologies and services.

•Solid understanding of cloud and and hyperscale operators and their business models.

•Ability to grow subscription services through demonstrated commercial and customer support

•Strong network of contacts at leading CSPs, vendors and industry associations

•Excellent verbal and written communications skills; customer-oriented and team-oriented
