Teams Architect for intelligent communication devices.

We have a new vision for collaboration and communication through intelligent devices which enables our customers to complete tasks and participate in productive meetings naturally and efficiently using multiple modalities such as voice, speech and intelligent video. We want to use artificial intelligence and machine leaning to deliver new device experiences that enable our customers collaborate and communicate more efficiently.  

 

We're looking for a versatile and energetic system architect to help us define and build the architecture for future Teams intelligent audio and video devices. This is a highly visible role across the Teams organization. As a Teams architect, you’ll work with internal Teams software and applications teams to drive future requirements on machine learning/computer vision applications, prototype device proof of concepts, write architecture spec, and work with device manufacturers and silicon vendors on implementation of new devices. The tasks involved require cross-functional collaboration with hardware design/verification, system, compiler, firmware, driver and machine learning research using clear verbal and written communication skills. You will engage with other parts of the company such as Azure, Cortana, Bing, Windows to define a better together story for Teams devices. This position is full-time and based in Bellevue, WA. 

 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:    

  • Knowledge/experience in Hardware and system architecture, computer architecture and GPU architecture  
  • Expertise and experience in machine learning algorithms, such as convolutional neural network, LSTM (Long Short-Term Memory) neural network, classification/detection and their applications  
  • Familiarity in computer vision algorithms such as people and object detection, tracking and recognition 
  • Knowledge in image processing and camera pipeline  
  • Knowledge in audio processing and audio pipeline  
  • Understanding the system implications of algorithms in terms of performance and power  
  • Proven programming skills in C++/C and Python  
  • Knowledge in language/speech processing is a plus  
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across various groups internally and externally  

Qualifications

  • PhD in CS/EE specializing Machine Learning, Deep Learning or Computer Vision areas. Master’s degree with industry experience can be considered.  
  • You have 10+ years of Hardware and system architecture, vision and audio devices experience.

  • You are familiar with popular collaboration, messaging, calling devices, video conferencing and apps in the market and ask insightful questions.  
  • You work effectively with external partners and love the customer, the end-user. Your product intuitions are derived through the lens of the customer.    
  • You think creatively and critically about product features, architecture, and capabilities 
  • You have innate curiosity and ability to self-start in an ambiguous and rapidly-changing startup environment.
