The Business Planning team facilitates the setting of the firm’s strategic priorities at the executive level and alignment of the multi-year and annual resource planning, budget and performance measurement processes to those priorities. The team works closely with the Chief Strategy Officer, Executive Committee, technology and other stakeholders to articulate the firm’s strategic priorities and annual objectives; aligns resource allocation in support of the priorities; and develops, monitors, and evaluates performance measures that enable the firm to assess its progress towards meeting the objectives and priorities.
This individual will need to develop consultative, collaborative partnerships with internal teams and leaders to work across the firm to understand their strategic objectives, key performance indicators and reporting requirements. They will be responsible for conducting unprecedented or complex analyses and reporting in support of general business operations, special projects/initiatives and/or strategic/operational planning activities. In this role they will often be assigned as a project lead on business unit initiatives of strategic importance and will enlist support from and lead junior staff or peers. They will review operational data/metrics, analyze and synthesizes the data, determine where measurement gaps exist and devise new metrics or reports to fill those gaps and compile into reports or presentations.
Scope and Responsibilities
- Coordinate across the business to lead annual business planning process and enhance methods and streamline tools and templates and develop best practices. Includes coordination with Finance, Technology and other key business stakeholders to ensure alignment across timing, process and clarity and support of business priorities. Requires proactive escalation when necessary.
- Assist in strategy development, planning, data analysis and in determining goals, and priorities and developing success metrics to monitor progress vs. strategic objectives
- Serve as an internal resource/SME on strategy framework best practices – working across the business to facilitate and lead planning discussions and to assist in formulating plans
- Conduct executive quarterly update reporting and plan and facilitate strategy sessions several times a year
- Lead efforts to communicate our strategy including periodic updates to employees – consisting of: strategy podcast series, leadership/content creation to support annual meeting/video to share strategy with employees, incorporating client needs/insights into planning and communications and assist in client facing strategic communications and updates.
- Work closely with Technology Prioritization Committee to align planning processes, support technology planning requirements and to align resources accordingly
- Understand business direction and needs and analyze trends in the industry that may impact strategy and share insights with senior management
- Manage process to measure and report on business performance and support ongoing data analysis and reporting to senior management
- Partner in the continued development and ongoing curation of strategic data infrastructure
- Lead efforts to support executive presentations regarding our strategy
- Financial services background a plus
- Will enlist support from and lead junior staff or peers.
- Navigates the entire firm in order to effectively complete tasks.
- Is a resource to more junior staff on complex or unprecedented issues.
- Is considered the technical leader for any ad-hoc reporting or project needs in the function or business unit.

Qualifications
