The cash operations team is responsible for cash management, reconciliation and accounting for daily platform cash activity and merchant fee processing on our platform. The cash operations associate principal will be  focused on new product and route implementations supporting a multi-year payments foundational roadmap. This role is a hybrid of cash and merchant fee accounting, data analysis and reconciliation system tasks and responsibilities. A  successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring successful implementation of cash reconciliations for new route integrations and product changes impacting the cash reconciliation cycle and merchant fee accounting. This associate principal will work directly with the finance technology group and payments project managers to support global and cross functional initiatives and will be responsible for communicating cash operations finance requirements and participating in  scoping and planning activities.

Success in this role is defined by a consistent track record of accomplishing tight deadlines and effectively supporting global stakeholders to ensure successful communication, collaboration and implementations. 

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal business partners such as Business Intelligence, Product, Finance Systems, Treasury, Engineering to implement new integrations including bank accounts, processors, and products.
  • Act as cash ops functional lead on cross functional  projects  and is able to interact and communicate with senior stakeholders across multiple business functions
  • Manage complex issues and issue resolution impacting cash cycle and identify and implement innovative solutions as necessary
  • Utilize leadership skills to influence outcome where required to ensure business continuity and financial integrity of existing or new processes
  • Identify critical internal or external issues as they relate to the cash reconciliation process and payments landscape impacting Airbnb's finance framework and recommends best practices and/or is able to propose feasible and effective alternative proposals
  • Train remote team on operation of new cash reconciliation processes and/or merchant fee accrual process once implementation has been completed.
  • Partner with FP&A lead to analyze and merchant fee actuals and support all rebate and incentive  programs where required.
  • Collaborate with both internal and external partners to investigate and resolve cash-impacting reporting discrepancies.
  • Build and own reliable and scalable processes and controls for global key cash and payments accounting. Mitigate finance and payments risks.
  • Maintain & support internally built knowledge base in Atlassian Confluence to document business and process changes as they relate to new payment integrations
  • Enhance operations and build new models such as accruals & reporting. 
  • Work on other ad hoc projects within the finance organization, as required.
  • Develop, monitor and maintain KPI’s in order to measure operational effectiveness and initiate continuous improvement initiatives with respect to new implementations

Qualifications

  • Experience working with remote/shared service team members and vendor partners.
  • B.S. or B.A. in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field of study. MBA or Master’s of Accountancy a plus.
  • 8+ years of accounting and payment operations experience.
  • 2+ years of relevant industry (tech, payments, marketplace(s), hospitality).
  • Experience with large-scale ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, Workday).
  • Experience implementing and/or managing payments or transaction level reconciliation and exceptions management solutions (Blackline, Fiserv, ReconArt) 
  • Experience leveraging a combination of 3rd party and proprietary systems is a plus.
  • Experience in and understanding of global payments concepts, industry and technology
  • Ability to interpret and analyze large payments processing  data sets across multiple platforms within the scope of cash reconciliation
  • Experience in implementing and developing operational processes in a large scale
  • In depth knowledge of payment route implementations and cash reconciliation cycles and is familiar with payments technology landscape and core concepts practices and principles
  • Polished communication skills and a track record of successful cross-functional collaboration on shared initiatives.
  • Experience in process development, standardization and automation, with proven ability to operate successfully in a highly-complex and changing environment with competing objectives and priorities.
  • Proficient in MS Excel; Experience in SQL, Tableau and Keynote a plus.
  • Proficiency in Atlassian Confluence a plus, desire to support team knowledge base to reflect ongoing business changes.
