Business - Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. CO&I is responsible for delivering Microsoft web portals, Live and Online Services around the world including infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability. Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency, and delivering a trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide. Within CO&I, the Datacenter Engineering (DCE) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for a passionate, high energy individual to help build the cloud datacenters that powers the world’s largest online services.

Specific Job Task – The datacenter design architect will be responsible for the development of Microsoft’s industry-leading datacenter designs which includes defining new technology and advanced concepts from pre-programming through design development, construction and the turnover to Operations.

The successful candidate will have the ability to effectively manage multiple teams of architects, engineers and designers and deliver projects aligned with the defined scopes, schedules and budgets.

The architect will provide technical direction for the structural and architectural components of the projects including facilitating systems coordination and organization throughout the sites and datacenters.

The candidate must have excellent communication, be highly organized and exhibit high-level of project leadership; possess a high level of expertise in commercial and industrial architecture with a primary focus on datacenter design; have adequate experience in civil and structural design to provide confident direction to civil and structural engineering vendor experts.

The candidate must also be able to work with other technical and non-technical groups in a fast-paced environment and must be a person of integrity with a methodical and detail-oriented work ethic.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture

• Registered Professional Architect

• 10+ years of experience in architecture/engineering with experience as a lead architect

• 7+ years of experience in mission critical projects (Datacenters, Laboratories and/or Micro-Electronics projects or similar)

• Demonstrated ability to write, speak, and present information effectively and persuasively

• Excellent analytical and organizational skills

• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to lead and be proactive

• Excellent problem-solving, judgment, team building, and decision-making skills

• Experience using MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio, and Excel including effective reporting/presentations of project information

Background Check Requirements:

Microsoft Cloud Screen Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Screen background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter while in this role
