Job Description
Eaton Corporation’s Center for Intelligent Power has an opening for a Collaborative Research Lead with experience in leading technical research collaboration activities. The Collaborative Research Lead will drive existing research engagements for the center. The successful candidate will work with our senior technical and management teams to identify and prioritise strategic research engagements aligned with the centre’s mission and objectives. The Collaborative Research Lead will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the research collaborations and delivery of the technical work packages. Your main responsibilities: Identify strategic opportunities and contribute to the research engagement strategy aligned with the centre’s mission. Identify, define and develop funding sources to support existing and planned program activities. Execute the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to support the Center’s programs in Ireland, EMEA, and the USA. Manage the delivery and annual research roadmap for active research and consortia engagements. Document and communicate status and progress updates to the center’s leadership team. Evaluate and anticipate strategic research collaboration opportunities. Work directly with stakeholders, consortia, engineering, and businesses to identify opportunities to test & evaluate technical innovations arising from the research collaborations within the company. Mentor and lead others regarding effective research consortia engagement. Coordinate submission and logistics for claims related to active research agreements and government programs Qualifications Your essential skills we are looking for: Bachelor’s or higher degree(s) in computer science, computer engineering, or software engineering 3+ years of research collaboration lead experience e.g. principal investigator or equivalent roles. 5+ years experience in a technical role developing and delivering new technical innovations. Excellent written communication skills including the ability to clearly explain technical concepts, create research reports & presentations and devise strategic plans. Identify, assess, and report on upcoming research collaboration opportunities, funding programs, and the progress of existing engagements. Be highly organised with the ability to manage and follow up with our global team on research projects including the creation of work packages, schedules, budgets, deliverables, and stakeholder contributions. Be a strong and professional communicator, capable of representing Eaton’s business interests, developing strategy, and actively negotiating with external government and business bodies. Desired Expertise (in one or more of the following areas): Proven record of creation and delivery of successful research proposals. Knowledge of research grant application processes, scoring criteria, and funding cycles, especially in an Irish and EMEA domain. Experience with Internet of Things (IoT) technology including embedded, edge, and cloud ingredients. Knowledge of power management technologies, with a passion for advancing technology to address the sustainability and electrification of our global power networks.
