As we drive to be the leading cloud platform in the world, Azure Global Government Engineering team is hiring an exceptional technical program manager to help accelerate our most strategic government customers’ adoption of Microsoft Azure by connecting our technical experience, along with our customers’ vision and challenges directly to the engineering product teams, and as a result help to ensure Azure is the most compelling solution on the market. We work across the broad range of Azure technologies understanding customer mission scenarios, cloud patterns and adoption blockers.

Success in this role combines managing customer engagements, listening to and understanding customer use cases and scenarios, translating these into viable cloud architectures and communicating this at an executive level. Responsibilities include program management of technical delivery teams on proof of concept implementations, as well as architecture design and review in a cloud-scale, cloud-pace environment. Close collaboration with generalists and specialists in the Microsoft field and delivery teams, peer teams within Microsoft Engineering and diverse customer teams is critical. The role is also responsible for communications related to our programs of work, including executive reporting and reviews with both customer and Microsoft stakeholders.

This position is in Reston, VA and requires someone willing to travel up to of 25-50% of the time. 

Responsibilities

  • Identify and drive strategies for Azure and customer architecture, engineering and service integration that align to our customers’ mission outcomes.
  • Ensure government-relevant infrastructure, security, and identity requirements are adequately addressed and built into Azure services and form factors.
  • Partner with engineering, infrastructure, marketing, compliance and other Microsoft leadership teams to translate customer demand signals into platform priorities and unblock future Azure growth.
  • Engage directly with customers at the CIO/CTO and Mission Director levels and support executive briefings.  Close opportunities with governments of our priority Country markets.
  • Drive and effectively manage large strategic and complex projects, with executive visibility and many critical dependencies across a variety of engineering and field teams. 
  • Develop a deep understanding of how top government customers use Azure as a platform and their need for differentiating technologies with data sensitivity top of mind.
  • Engage with colleagues across a large, diverse, and distributed organization to drive decisive action that delivers results.
  • Remove customer barriers to cloud adoption.

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of industry experience working the Government market sector. Emphasis on those that have a mission that requires dealing with sensitive and classified workloads.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a flexible, fast-paced environment
  • Self-managing leader who takes initiative and has demonstrated the ability to solve challenging problems requiring the effort and impact of a diverse cross team strategy
  • Success in consultative and/or technical leadership (e.g. architect) and engagement management with sophisticated and complex customers and projects
  • Experience in cloud-scale solution architecture, software development or delivery
  • High Technical aptitude and the desire learn every day.
  • Strong communication acumen, both verbal and written up to an executive-level

Ability to meet Microsoft security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
