The Oncology Research group at Amgen South San Francisco is seeking a Principal Scientist to lead preclinical research focused on T cell engager programs for solid tumors. In this vital role you will join a dynamic, fast-paced environment with teams that drive target discovery and validation, evaluate new technology, advance best in class therapeutic programs to the clinic, and contribute to the field through publications and presentations.

The candidate will be responsible to lead preclinical stage project teams, manage a group of lab-based staff, and coordinate external collaborations. . The ideal candidate will have a track record of innovative discovery biology supported by presentations, publications and patents with strong drive and experience in advancing therapeutic candidates in Oncology or Immuno-Oncology.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 3 years of Oncology or Immuno-Oncology experience

Or

Master’s degree and 6 years of Oncology or Immuno-Oncology experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of Oncology or Immuno-Oncology experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree & Post-doctoral experience & >5 years as a group lead in academia or industry
  • Broad knowledge of cancer biology with demonstrated independence in critical thinking and scientific achievement, such as through first or senior author publications in top-tier journals and awarded grants
  • Direct experience with T cell targeted therapy including technical knowledge of in vitro cell culture and in vivo models, multi-color flow cytometry, and imaging methods
  • Experience leading collaboration projects with academic laboratories and/or contract laboratories
  • Experience with regulatory submissions
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
