We are building our next-generation, scalable, efficient data center as a service using the latest technology. Building on top of the cloud deployments in BNY Mellon, we are aggressively automating and bridging the green field cloud with the existing virtual computing environments.
The Role TSG Data Center Application Services team is looking for a highly motivated System Engineer with experience in Programming of Network Infrastructure components. You will work closely with the Engineering teams to develop automated approaches to manual tasks thus by reducing time to deliver and risk of misconfiguration. This person will also work closely with the Compute and Storage teams to build upon this automation to automate the overall provisioning to reduce time to build.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform highly complex analysis, design, development, tests, and debugs of Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV). •Analyze and apply advanced methods, theories, and research techniques in the investigation of complex networking problems. • Integrate SDN and NFV solutions into existing network infrastructures to help automate and increase efficiency in network operations. • Develop novel advance networking architectures and designs using the latest open source and vendor technologies. • Test vendor and open source SDN and NFV products in a lab environment. • Plan and conduct major technical phases of significant projects by coordinating the efforts of technical support staff and the performance of assigned projects.
Principal Systems Engineer/Programmer->> Serves as subject matter expert in leading the design and development of the most complex application problems, system administration issues, or network concerns. Performs systems management and integration functions. Conducts and leads complex analysis to correct systems, applications, software, and hardware that are not compliant with Corporate policy/procedures. Works closely with external vendors on large and multifaceted infrastructure engineering projects. Works closely with Application Development and Quality Assurance and Testing teams to understand infrastructure needs during the development and testing processes. Applies IT expertise in strategizing how to best develop infrastructure that will allow development and testing processes to be secure and efficient. Provides expert input and recommends processes in developing project plans. Monitors project progress and provides regular status reports to management team. Evaluates the effectiveness of the organization's existing infrastructure technology. Is an expert on current industry trends and emerging technologies. Analyzes trends to recommend and implement upgrades that enhance the reliability and efficiency of the IT infrastructure. Contributes to the achievement of Infrastructure Engineering objectives.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, advanced degree preferred 10-12 years of related experience required, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.Required:
- 3+ years of experience with Linux
- 3+ years of experience with Java or Python development
- 2+ years of experience with REST API development
- Ability to obtain a security clearance
Preferred
- Experience with SDN controllers, including OpenDaylight
- Experience with SDN protocols, including OpenFlow, NETCONF, or PCEP Experience with data modeling languages, including YANG
- Experience with virtualization technologies, including VMware or KVM
- Experience with Cloud orchestration technologies, including OpenStack
- Experience with IP networking technologies, including routing, switching, security
