The Role
National Instruments Application Engineers ensure customer success at accounts by demonstrating the highest
technical aptitude and professional engineering skills. They provide innovative solutions and delive projects
while becoming trusted technical partners for NI’s customers. This is a role that requires not only deep
understanding of industry (Semi) with domain knowledge, but also strong personal drive and can do attitude to
learn and solve customers’ application needs.
Key Responsibilities
? Devise innovative techniques for testing and characterizing leading edge RF and Mixed Signal devices
? Design sophisticated RF, analog and digital test interfaces to implement switching, filtering, signal conversion, and other functions
? Write and debug test programs in NI TSM to solve customer's test problem for RF, mixed-signal and logic applications
? Create demonstration development programs and presentations.
? Reproduce customer problems for software/hardware engineering to correct, and provide interim solutions to keep our customers' production flowing
? Develop competitive benchmarks to differentiate us from the competition
? Travel to customer sites to support Design Engineers, Test Engineers, Product Engineers and Manufacturing
Engineers.
? Work with Sales and Marketing to develop sales and support strategies
? Write and present technical papers at professional conference, NI days, Semicon, etc.
? Teach technical classes and seminars to customers and NI internal engineers
Key Performance Objectives
? Achievement of key support objectives for assigned accounts/projects tied to project delivery, issues resolution, customer proficiency development.
? Recognized by customer and account manager to have contributed to customer success; building organization level loyalty to NI, as measured through satisfaction survey.
Basic Qualifications
? Bachelors or Masters degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math)
? 8+ years of relevant Semiconductor industry experience in the areas of:
- RFIC or mixed-signal IC testing and validation
- RF FEM, On-Wafer test, IPD, ADC/DAC, LED, MEMS sensor
- Software and system development, including test case development
- Knowledge in wireless protocol: GSM, WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, LTE, WLAN, Bluetooth, NB-IoT, LoRa, ZigBee, …etc.
- Text-Based Programming, C++, VB, Java, etc.
- Test platform software (SmarTest, IG-XL, etc)
- Major semiconductor ATE platform (V93000, Ultra, J750, Pax, etc)
- Experience in common test engineering instruments: SMU, VSA, VSG, VST, VNA, Power Meter,etc.
? Experience communicating directly with customers at operation management level
? Semiconductor experience and knowledge such as ATE, handler, prober, on-wafer test, digital test, fabrication …etc.
? Experience publishing technical papers and/or presenting in Semiconductor journals and/or conferences
? Willing and able to travel domestically or internationally, up to 20%
? Project management skills and sense of urgency in project delivery.
? Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills. Fluency in English
Preferred Qualifications
? NI PXI platform or NI Labview/TestStand experience ( plus)
