Job Purpose:

This position oversees all projects and activities, including the development & execution for Process development for all formats within a given wet manufacturing site.  The position is accountable for leadership of the PPI Technologist at the manufacturing site.  The position also has leadership/ownership of Product and Process Implementation and Continuous Improvement management to achieve the highest metrics for increasing Quality performance and Process capabilities for the Mars Petcare manufacturing site within the wet platform. The position has ownership of R&D business processes at the Mars Petcare manufacturing site and overall R&D leadership of major expansion plans at the manufacturing site.

What we are looking for:

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related scientific degree
• 5+ years in R&D or Engineering development
• Previous experience in a food, petfood, beverage or related manufacturing environment
• Previous people management experience
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

• MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related food Engineering field
• 7+ years of work experience in engineering or research and development in a Food manufacturing environment
• 2+ years of team leadership experience in FMCG environment
• Start up or expansion in plant experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Line management of the manufacturing site Process Development and Implementation Team
• Overall R&D site leadership of expansion projects including standard run conditions & process/product validation of new manufacturing lines.
• Contribute to strategy development for Process R&D as part of the Process R&D leadership Team
• Accountable for development and implementation of the given Site Process Development strategy and understanding of current capabilities.
• Provides critical deep functional competency and leads the resolution for key technical business issues and Process related opportunities
• Provide input on the required process technologies and platforms needed to deliver against the company’s 3-5yr goals.
• Leads all new product and process implementations in the factory
• Key Owner of R&D’s relationship and Ways of Working with Site Supply Team
• Identifies & exploits continuous improvement opportunities in the factory to continuously improve efficiency, quality and product performance and consistency
• Develops and directs site Process Development and Implementation Team staffing and training strategies to ensure technical competence, creativity, teamwork and broad business knowledge leading to continued technical leadership in R&D
• Influences and/or develops best practices/standards on as part of the Global Process CoP.
• Responsible for the integration of new Process from both Global Innovation Center and other external sources to the manufacturing site.
• Supports the functional expertise to generate and develop new and enhanced manufacturing processes as part of the businesses do it best efforts
