In this vital role as a Scientist in the Drug Substance Process Development Cell Sciences & Engineering organization you will work directly with the cell culture and/or fermentation science, biochemistry, and/or manufacturing processes within the scope of Process Development-Cell Sciences & Engineering. This is an individual contributor role that will provide and/or support the characterization of process optimization strategies and/or fixing of operational issues in the manufacturing of routine commercial products and/or technology transfers. You will be responsible for supporting the implementation of manufacturing/quality systems such as deviations, process validation, monitoring, and new product introductions.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Ability to use cell science knowledge, theoretical understanding, and experience in the design, introduction, development, transfer, and implementation of manufacturing processes.
• Provides, develops and implements recommendations to new processes to address specific issues and generate robust and reliable data.
• Ensures that studies are conducted in compliance with the respective protocol and applicable guidelines and regulations
• Provides data analysis and interpretation and assesses impact of the data on the project and/or routine commercial manufacturing processes; demonstrates advanced statistical knowledge and software.
• Designs, monitors or conducts experimental strategies or projects which significantly contribute to attaining high priority goals under general mentorship from supervisor.
• Conceive, plans and conduct scientific research/investigation that involves in-depth investigation of subject area, definition of scope, selection of areas of investigation, and development of novel concepts.
• Assists others in experimental design and/or interpretation/diagnosis of data and implementing innovative remedies.
• Independently authors scientific reports, summary documents, complex regulatory documents, invention disclosure submissions and/or patents.

Doctorate degree

Or

Master’s degree and 3 years of Process Development and/or Technical Services experience.

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of Process Development and/or Technical Services experience.

Beyond that, additional preferred qualifications are:

• Educational background in Life Sciences and/or Engineering.
• Experience and/or applied scientific knowledge of biological drug substance manufacturing
• Technical understanding of bio-processing unit operations for upstream and cell harvest processes.
• Knowledge with documentation processes and technical writing in a highly regulated environment.
• Ability to interpret and apply GLPs and GMPs.
• Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and presentation skills in English and Spanish.
