Role Summary:
The Process Engineer for Ultrasound Probes is responsible for the research and development of transducer manufacturing process. Invent and develop advanced processes, enabling the fabrication of challenging new transducers for medical applications.
Essential Responsibilities:
Goals include: defining process parameters for ultrasound architecture, improving product performance through material selection and process improvements, implementing process and material specification standardization initiatives and instituting Six Sigma methodologies.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
1. Provide project leadership on new process development projects
2. Fabricate prototypes and characterize mechanical, electrical, and acoustic properties
3. Collaborate with suppliers to develop improved processes and materials
4. Collaborate with global stakeholders to develop and maintain technology roadmap
5. Lead the application and training of Six Sigma methodologies
6. Establish design and processes requirements to improve yield, performance, and reliability
7. Perform design verification to demonstrate new processes meet requirements
8. Support design transfer through process documentation, specifications, and technical support
9. Collaborate with the manufacturing engineer to assess the process change and solve IB problems
Quality Specific Goals:
1. Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position
2. Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines
3. Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required
4. Ensure compliance/closure of Regulatory and Quality requirements before approving Design Outputs/Program Deliverables
5. Lead continuous improvement activities by driving the implementation of process and product quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications/Requirements:
1. Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical/Materials Engineering, Bioengineering, Manufacturing Engineering or comparable engineering field.
2. At least three years of experience in the industrial process sector such as ultrasound transducers, MEMS, micro mechanics or equivalent (preferably medical products) or in a laboratory related to these activities with direct responsibility for design and development of processes, and materials.
3. Excellent level in chemistry (gluing, polymers, surface preparation, plasma, ...), and mechanics (micro-assembly mechanics, dicing of ceramic or semiconductor substrates using dicing saw) and / or knowledge theory of adhesives (epoxy, cyanoacrylate) and additive industrial processes.
4. Knowledge of CAD software (PTC Creo, SolidWorks, Autocad) is desired.
5. Knowledgeable in using lab equipment to test physical or mechanical properties of materials for building transducers.
6. Strong analytical and empirical skills to solve difficult problems including proficiency with Design of Experiments and Statistical Process Control methodology.
7. Creativity in defining new processes and successfully implementing them.
8. Experience in the design of ultrasound transducers is a plus
9. Be able to communicate with cross-functional team members in English.

Desired Characteristics:
1. Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical, Chemical/Materials Engineering, Bioengineering, Manufacturing Engineering or comparable engineering field with over 3years of experience.
2. Expertise in the field of chemistry related to the adhesion between dissimilar materials and a fundamental understanding of cleaning, surface preparation, and plating methodologies.
3. Six Sigma green belt or black-belt certification.
