Your team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google's powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you're right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google's infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google's infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.

The Google Cloud Infrastructure team is looking for a quality engineering professional who can lead product quality related activities between our engineering teams, contract manufacturers and suppliers. This will include identifying and managing risks and clearly communicating project goals and status to stakeholders. As a Process Engineer, you'll evaluate product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures to help continuously improve our technical infrastructure on every aspect of product quality. You will work closely with multiple engineering, product operations and supply chain teams to ensure that the product represents Google optimally and ensures high-quality service.

Responsibilities

• Perform Design for Manufacturability/Assembly analysis, Design for Cost analysis for sheet metal, plastic injection molded, metal stamped, and electro-mechanical parts and assemblies using 3D CAD tools.
• Conduct manufacturing and process audits and qualify contract manufacturers/vendors.
• Provide comprehensive Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering support to Google's global manufacturing partners during development and production builds. Create work instructions and assembly guides as needed.
• Resolve manufacturing and field challenges by applying knowledge and skills, escalating design, manufacturing, and product test issues to others within the organization when appropriate. Identify, initiate, and drive process improvements that reduce process cycle times and cost, while maintaining exceptional quality.
• Use a Product Data Management system to create and maintain Bills of Materials, Approved Vendor Lists, and Engineering Change Notifications/Orders in support of Google Products.
