Job Overview
 
Responsible for the development and support of assembly lines and processes with focus on continuous improvement that supports first pass yield, productivity, and material cost goals. Sound engineering skills with emphasis on product/part flow, ergonomics, safety and error proofing principles.


Responsibilities
- Identify, improve, recommend and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, process capability and product quality using Daimler TOS and Bosch BPS methodologies.

- Develop manufacturing processes, conduct defect and failure analysis, engineering evaluations, statistical analysis and implement corrective actions to support process improvement efforts and ensure root-cause analysis translates into process improvements.

- Perform periodic process capability studies on key value stream operations.

- Streamline manufacturing processes, procedures and work instructions to improve first pass yield, eliminate rework and scrap, while consistently improving material costs and productivity.

- Standardize and reduce setup and changeover times, reduce waste, monitor processes and establish robust, repeatable, and reproducible process parameters and process controls.

- Provide guidance and coordination to the technical staff thereby contributing to improvement of skill levels, quality standards, process improvements, problem solving abilities and continuous technical development to achieve department goals.

- Release new processes and products Reman Product and Process Launch standards (Quality Gates).

- Interface with the equipment supply base to have key resources at our suppliers to assist in equipment problem solving when required. Know who to call when.

- Respond to any process downtime issues in plant and establish any required outside resources to assist in responding to these issues quickly.

- Develop the preventative maintenance plan with the maintenance team for equipment within your respective value stream.

- Execute work assignment in accordance to company standards and quality systems.

- Ensure compliance and enforcement of company, safety, environmental, governmental policies and regulations as they apply.

- Ability to read and create electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.

- High level of competence in the use of Microsoft Office, AutoCad and Solid Edge for 3D modeling. Ability to apply GD&T and fulfill drafting and print control requirements.

- Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency.

- Develop labor utilization standards, cost analysis systems, and capacities for value stream(s) of responsibility.

- Develop remanufacturing techniques and processes to maximize material recovery and associated testing for validation of product/process. Understanding of milling and turning machining processes.

- Confer with vendors, staff and management regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities and project status along with new product introduction.

- Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures and activities.

- Backup supervision coverage as needed.

Required Qualifications: 


- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related fields from an accredited university/college with 3+ years of related experience required
- Experience in an automotive or manufacturing environment required.
- Ability in calculating line capacity and machine utilization required.
- Expertise in engineering principles to perform comprehensive line troubleshooting required.
- Knowledge in strategizing engineering solutions via PFMEA required.
- Able to communicate effectively with cross functional teams, management teams and customers required.
- Ability to prioritize tasks given, organize and summarize information communicated with stakeholders and provide potential impacts and alternatives required.
- Good communication and writing skills required.
- Good in technical presentation with data/chart oriented required.

Preferred Qualifications: 


- CNC machining and CAM experience including tooling design preferred.
- Solid Edge or similar 3D Design experience
- Experience with automated production lines, understanding the controls and automation technologies within preferred.
- Ability to program Cognex vision cameras preferred.
