Siemens Industry, Inc's Gas Chromatographs and Integration (GCI) Business Unit has an immediate opening for a Chemical Laboratory technician. This position is manufacturing based and is located in Houston, TX near Jersey Village. This role is within the Analytical Methods Development department within GCI supporting the production/testing of process gas chromatographs through creating custom chemical test mixtures and supporting gas chromatograph (GC) custom column manufacturing. The candidate will interact with process GC method development chemists and GC Final Test technicians on a routine basis while reporting directly to the Analytical Methods Development manager. May also provide non-laboratory administrative support to other groups on an as-needed basis. Must be comfortable in working in a team environment and in an industrial laboratory. Responsibilities The successful candidate will possess, as a minimum, the skills necessary to provide custom mixing of various vapor and liquid chemicals to produce quantitative synthetic samples, quality check GC column materials through gas chromatography and the ability to support custom production of gas chromatograph separation columns to meet customer requirements. Associated tasks are at a minimum: · compliance with on job safety requirements · production of custom chemical mixtures via volumetric/gravimetric means · production of gas chromatographic columns · perform supportive lab GC tests · maintaining/managing of chemical and cylinder inventories · manage disposal of chemical wastes · assist in standardization of work processes · interface with various internal customers · provide general guidance to others and train lower level employees · Effectively identify problems as they occur and takes appropriate steps to solve them in situations where the problem is difficult or complex · Follow Lean 6S system for the position’s workspaces Required Knowledge/Skills, Education and Experience · Bachelor’s of Science in Chemistry (focus on Analytical skills) 0 to 5 years of experience conduction sample preparation · Demonstrated practical experience creating custom chemical mixtures · Working proficiency with Concepts of Dilution · Basic understanding of gas chromatographic principles · Detail Oriented · Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel · Fluent and effective English communication skills Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education and Experience · Knowledge of Lean practices · Familiarity with SAP · Operation of Siemens Maxum II process GC (0.5+years) · Experience with MS Access database (0.5+years) · Use of laboratory Personal Protective Equipment · Chemical Inventory Management #LI-JK1 #DI Organization: Digital Industries Company: Siemens Industry, Inc.
