Salary: From £36,000 inclusive of Shift Allowance (Depending on Experience) + bonus + healthcare + excellent Pension Scheme

We are looking for mechanically skilled personnel who will be responsible for the manufacture of our famous brands such as Mars, Snickers, Maltesers and Galaxy.

 

What are we looking for?

  • Mechanical training or background is a must.
  • Experience leading / coordinating a small team of associates / contractor, or the ability to take on this responsibility.
  • Experience in FMCG / High speed production OR transferable mechanical process skills from a similar environment.
  • Willing to work a shift pattern - specifically 2 x 12-hour days, followed by 2 x 12-hour nights, followed by 4 days off.

 

What would be your key responsibilities?

  • Working as a member of a shift team, the primary role of a Lead Production Operator is to demonstrate leadership, ownership and accountability for a number of machines, processes or pieces of equipment and carry out complex operational and mechanical tasks required on one or more production lines.
  • Normal tasks will include but not be limited to: starting up and shutting down their equipment or line; monitoring and cleaning their machinery; carrying out mechanical machine changeovers; fault diagnosis and problem solving; repairs, checks and inspections; and the use of ancillary tools & equipment and computer systems.
  • Problems will be diagnosed and resolved using acquired skills, defined processes and selecting from a range of options based on learned or experienced solutions. This diagnostic ability will be based on clear mechanical first principle knowledge and logical problem solving techniques.
  • The role has clearly defined practices and procedures, with workload defined by known outputs and standards of performance in Safety, Hygiene, Quality, Value & Service to be achieved during the shift, day or rota. The Lead Production Operator will co-ordinate the completion of events, "to do" lists, or to carry out tasks assigned by a Team Leader or Area Manager.
  • The Lead Production Operator will escalate issues as appropriate, give full and accurate verbal and written handovers and complete all logs as required within the defined factory framework.
  • The associate is to identify continuous improvement opportunities, facilitate and drive their implementation while tracking performance gains against area KPIs. They are required to review and improve ways of working by contributing to local work group as well as across all other shifts.
  • The job holder will maintain and develop their own skills and pass them on to other associates, training and validating other Lead Operators or Operators as required so as to improve overall factory performance.
