Job Description

Applied Materials, an American multinational company with headquarters in Santa Clara, is a leading provider of innovative semiconductor machinery, services and software. Our technologies help customers make microchips which contribute to products such as smartphones, computers, and cars that are increasingly accessible to consumers and merchants around the world.

We are looking for a Process Support Engineer in our Semiconductor Division

The candidate will be based at Agrate Brianza (MB) site and will cover Europe South customers, mostly in Italy and France. At the end of the training period the candidate will be able to follow projects from pre-sales activity to production release at customer sites.

The candidate has gained Process Engineering experience and uses best practices and knowledge to propose new products and processes to meet customer needs, then ensure the delivered solution meets expectation. Solves complex problem, focus on continuous improvement. The position requires ability to work independently, with minimal guidance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serves as process engineering liaison between the customer and the Business Unit for assigned projects, ensuring clear understanding of customer issues and delivery of applicable solutions. 

  • When necessary, works closely with customer to optimize tool performance to meet customer process and integration requirements. 

  • Checks and approves operational quality of system equipment. Instructs customers in the operation and maintenance of the system.

  • Provides highly visible customer support through the performance of on-site installation, as well as overseeing any necessary diagnoses, troubleshooting, service, and repair of complex equipment and systems. 

Functional Knowledge

Demonstrates conceptual and practical expertise in one of the following process areas at least:

  • CMP

  • MDP

  • EPI/FEP

  • VSE

  • DDP

  • PPC

  • PLASMA or Thermal thin films deposition processes and basic knowledge of related disciplines

Business Expertise

Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market

Leadership

Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience; may lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements

Problem Solving

Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information

Interpersonal Skills

Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus

Education

Materials Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or similar Master's degree - Ph.D. are welcome

Travel

50% of the time (national and international, mostly in Europe).

Languages

Perfect Italian, Fluent in English written and spoken.

Computer Skills

Proficiency in use of Word, Excel and Power Point.

Good Knowledge of JMP or other statistical analysis software is appreciated (internal training available).
