Work Hours: Mon-Fri, 8am to 515pm

Position Summary:

The Procurement Specialist, APAC (excluding China) will assist and at times lead capital spend sourcing projects to support the growth in the APAC region. Assist to develop and execute global category plans for the strategic sourcing of indirect categories in APAC. Support for cross divisional sourcing and contracting activities to leverage Thermo Fisher Scientific’s indirect APAC spend totaling >$100m per year.
 

Key Responsibilities:

• Partner with project manager for capital projects sourcing and leverage on global sourcing strategy and global supplier base

• Partner with internal stakeholders to understand current and future business needs, as well as external resource requirements, in order to create and execute project pipeline

• Manage supplier qualification, RFP, supplier selection, contract development, implementation, compliance, and ongoing supply management processes as they pertain to indirect categories
• Analyze spend data and identify opportunities to consolidate suppliers of similar services in order to drive leveraged cost reductions
• Leverage e-sourcing and spend analysis tools to drive cost avoidance and incremental year over year cost savings
• Lead cross-functional strategic sourcing teams that include representation from the internal customer, finance, legal, and the end user community
• Influence key executive stakeholders to engage sourcing as a key partner in order to drive cost out of their 3rd party suppliers
• Support, implement, and manage multi-year category sourcing strategy(ies) for various indirect categories within APAC
• Drive a measurable reduction in year over year total cost of ownership for various indirect categories
• Conduct regular reviews of supplier scorecards and operational metrics to drive continuous improvement of corporate services suppliers

• Provide external industry benchmarking to better assess strategy and solutions within corporate services

• Drive process improvements to create efficiencies in sourcing procedures and the interaction with corporate services and legal

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

• A Degree in Maths, Engineering, Business, Finance or equivalent 
• A minimum 5 years’ experience in sourcing various indirect categories in APAC, with experience in capital sourcing 
• Advanced knowledge of contract terms and conditions
• Exceptional ability to engage cross functional teams and influence decision making process.
• Must be able to navigate a complex organization structure to solve problems inherent in large scale supplier implementations
• Advanced contract negotiation skills, specifically service providers whose product may be intangible
• Demonstrated experience with sourcing for capital expenses
• Strong analytical skills required
• Strong knowledge of the strategic sourcing process and practical application of the process to sourcing projects
• Strong influencing, project management and change management skills
• Strong computer technology skills
• Excellent demonstration of teamwork 
• 5% global travel
