About Role:
Lenovo is seeking an engineer for server functional validation, focus on
baseboard management controller (BMC) validation and study of new features and
releases.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate technical expertise and the ability to
understand new system architectures and pinpoint problem areas while working
closely with Subsystem Validation Engineer, Lead Test Engineer and Developer.
The ideal candidate should create, define and develop system validation
environment and test cases. Uses and applies emulation, platform-level tools
and techniques to ensure server production design meet specification.
Responsible for the development of methodologies, manage problems during
validation plans execution, and debug of failures. Requires broad
understanding of multiple system areas and requires interfaces with
Architecture, Design, and NPI teams in improving system design validation and
system integration test content.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving the system validation of
x86/x64 platforms, which includes validation execution within in-house lab,
results analysis, bug detection and root cause analysis, must be able to
develop relationships and work cross-functionally with other team members,
including HW, SW and FW teams. Self-motivation and problem solving are valued
as you will need to understand silicon, board and software interactions. The
responsibilities of this position include working closely with the Server
firmware developers to gain a deep understanding of the firmware features and
define tests which ensure the Server firmware not only meets the product
requirements but also explores these features in depth to ensure the Server
firmware exceeds the high standards of a Server platform for its customers and
partners.
The jobs will include below but not limited to:
Key Responsibilities of the Server Functional Validation Engineer:
• Mainly focus on Server System management firmware (BMC) validation areas and
act as technical focal
• Identify, review design SPECs and deliver test cases, SOPs regarding product
specifications
• Provide test requirements and review supplier test methodology
• Manage and monitor test execution
• Identify in-house/industry standard test utility and provide automation
idea.
• Defect pinpoint and analysis
• Own the quality of assigned areas and ensure these areas exceed the
customers’ expectations
Position Requirements:
• Bachelor degree in CS, EE, CE or equivalent work experience
• Ability to study open standards and new technologies.
• Ability to debug and resolve difficult technical problems and strong
troubleshooting skills
• Ability to determine the feasibility of projects in a fast paced deadline
driven environment
• Ability to anticipate problems proactively and take appropriate actions to
mitigate negative impact
• Ability to work within a team environment as well as ability to work
independently.
• Solid Verbal and written English communication skills
• Minimum 3 years’ experience with BMC/Chassis management controllers function
testing
• Familiar with test utility/script design and implementation is a plus
• Have proven experience defining test plans and developing test automation
• Experienced in using/testing IMM/iLO/XCC/iDRAC are preferred.
