1.Generally assigned to components, sub-assemblies and systems, e.g. may be responsible for changes based on new requirements or packaging constraints, or may contribute to the application of new technology

2. Engages in design and product development of automotive closure systems, including door latches and actuators, window moving mechanisms, door modules, and powered closures.

3. Coordinates the complete development for the designated products including, but not limited to design, build and test activities, in accordance with standard operating procedures and the product delivery process.

4. Incorporates customer requirements, regulations and product specifications into the design of the designated products, ensuring compliance with operational, cost, timing, safety, reliability, quality, and manufacturing feasibility parameters.

5. Analyzes products and formulates engineering conclusions by the application of engineering and/or mathematical principles and tools. Applies QFD, FEA, FMEA, DOE, VA/VE and DFM/DFA, as required in the development of the product.

6. Writes/compiles engineering content for the following deliverables: engineering specifications and documentation, including DVP&R’s, 8D’s, GD&T, BOM, prototype control plans, key product characteristics, engineering changes and work orders.

7. Consults and collaborates with personnel in various engineering and design activities relative to product development requirements in order to create/support robust design methods to eliminate prior campaign failure modes.

8. Conducts effective communications within the project team and the customer, supplier, manufacturing and quality communities with minimal guidance from engineering management and senior engineering personnel as necessary. Maintains all appropriate documentation.

9. Provides both recommendations and support for design solutions to design personnel.

10. Supports CAE activities (hand calculations/first order analysis). Fundamental understanding and ability to apply/utilize basic math based tools.

11. Works with senior engineering personnel to support and drive best practices in design specifications, manufacturing processes, customer requirements, and safety requirements

12. Creates, reviews and approves engineering direction and designs to ensure key deliverables are met (i.e. cost targets, timing, safety, reliability, quality, and manufacturing feasibility parameters).

13. Reviews, approves, completes, and submits required change notices to ensure design outputs meet design inputs.

14. Understands and follows existing policies, procedures, work instructions and standards and makes recommendations for continuous improvements.

4) Basic skills with independent problem solving and presentations.

5) Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.

6) Strong analytical skills and statistical background is a plus
