JOB SUMMARY:

The Product Engineer – NVH will be responsible for NVH analysis and support to all Linamar programs to ensure industry leading customer satisfaction. The Product Engineer – NVH will be responsible for both dynamometer and in-vehicle NVH testing/analysis of Linamar engineered product. Develop software tools and engineering procedures as needed to support company lean and kaizen efforts. It is the Product Engineer - NVH responsibility to address product development and design issues as required in a timely manner and with a quality focus.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide NVH testing and analysis to meet customer requirements.

2. Perform project duties as outlined in the APQP procedure.

3. Support creation of NVH related engineering documentation, such as test procedures, GOS plays, lessons learned, etc.

4. Responsible for providing technical NVH expertise to engineering projects to ensure program objectives are accomplished according to established schedules and budgets.

5. Work with internal gear team on gear noise resolution as required.

6. Work with internal CAE team as required.

7. Oversee NVH tests and support data acquisition.

8. Support internal customers for review of NVH requirements.

9. Work with internal customers, test technicians and quality engineers on developing and reviewing test procedures.

10. Recognize and resolve technical difficulties associated with projects prior to production.

11. Assist manufacturing facilities in developing processes through Advance Quality Planning.

12. Communicate with manufacturing personnel to assist in the production launch issues.

13. Keep records and transmit information between customers and other stakeholders.

14. Be alert to new technologies and the opportunities to incorporate into products and manufacturing processes.

15. Lead process enhancement efforts as needed for NVH technology.

16. Mentor end users in related subject matter.

17. Deliver training in subject area as needed by the business to increase the knowledge base of the applicable organizations with respect to NVH technology.

ACEDEMIC / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

2. Master of Science in Engineering is preferred


REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

Technical –

  • Desired 5 to 8 years of engineering experience.
  • Must possess a familiarity with NVH order and modal analysis.
  • Experience with NVH Data Acquisition software, front-ends, and transducers.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting order tracks, spectrograms and order spectra.
  • Desired experience with the following NVH software tools: MATLAB, HEAD Acoustics ArtemiS Suite, Brüel & Kj？r PULSE Reflex and HBM nCode.
  • Desired familiarity with driveline products and driveline NVH testing and analysis.
  • Proficiency using Excel and Power Point.
  • Comfortable using and interpreting the results from computer analysis tools.
  • Strong functional knowledge of driveline and transmission systems design; casting, forging, machining, and general manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to self-teach, apply deep technical content, instruct others, and apply effective interpersonal skills that inspire a team to achieve positive results and high performance standards on projects.
  • Able to prepare summary reports, give recommendations and be an ambassador for the McLaren Engineering brand.
  • Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to function and act independently.
  • Ability to work well with people in a team environment.
Communication – Must possess good verbal and written skills. The ability to communicate effectively within a group or team. Must be able to articulate precise instructions and effectively transfer information. Ability to provide support for technical presentations to customers.
Analytical – Ability to work with mathematical concepts and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, trigonometry, calculus, and differential equations. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Problem Solving – Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

9. This position may require up to 10% travel.
