Job Description
Eaton’s Electrical Sector, Power Components Division (PCD), is currently seeking a Product Line Support Engineer to join our team. This position is located in our Beaver, PA facility. Relocation assistance will be provided. Position Overview: The primary purpose of the Product Line Support Engineer is to provide engineering support for the Molded Case Circuit Breaker product lines located in Beaver, PA. The engineer will be responsible for product engineering and technical support for the products manufactured at the facility. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide product line support to resolve issues relating to yield, quality, warranty, component functions, or third-party regulatory non-compliance product holds. Some examples of required support are as follows: Ensure products meet functional requirements. Maintain product listings and compliance with associated standards, resolving functional production issues. Identify cost reductions and improvement of product reliability. Essential Functions: Understand product requirements, applications, governing standards (UL, CSA, IEC, NEMA, etc.), test procedures, and breaker technology. Ensure product compliance with performance requirements, standards, and customer specifications. Maintain third-party certifications and fully resolve any non-conformances. Evaluate material, supplier, and product design deviations or changes to provide the appropriate dispositions according to performance requirements. Evaluate and enhance product performance margin to ensure product design robustness. Participate in global team-based product design and development activities, including new ratings, features, and accessories for existing product platforms or new products. Utilize statistical quality tools to analyze data to establish product baseline performance to identify focus areas and targets for improved product design robustness. Perform tolerance analysis on system/components and leverage computer modeling & simulation tools to aid product design and performance activities. Build prototypes and models and develop test plans where necessary to validate product performance. Perform design-related testing in lab facilities. Define and communicate critical-to-quality characteristics of product designs. Learn and utilize the Design for Six Sigma methodology. Collaborate with manufacturing process owners (fabrication, assembly, welding, calibration) to understand fundamental capabilities and ensure that design specifications are met. Document and control design revisions using engineering change orders. Provide technical product information to customers and routine updates to the manager, leadership team, and engineering organization regarding crucial projects and metric performance. Dimensions: The position impacts the success of Eaton’s global Low Voltage Industrial Circuit Breaker product lines manufactured in Beaver, PA. Critical activities include product compliance (and holds for non-compliance), performance, cost, and quality. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution. Minimum of (2) two years of experience in design engineering or manufacturing engineering. May require up to 10% travel. Must be able to work in the United States without company sponsorship Relocation assistance will be provided. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution Experience with Six-Sigma quality tools and methodology General knowledge of product design for cost-effective manufacture, working knowledge of regulatory standards. Experience with engineering computer applications. Pro/Engineer Creo or similar, Excel, and computer-based simulation 3D modelling (static stress, thermal, kinematics/dynamics, tolerances, etc.). Bilingual with fluency in English and Spanish preferred. Position Criteria: Cross-functional teamwork and written & verbal communication skills. Fundamentals of project management.
