Job Description

The Product Manager, Genome Modulation and Editing at Thermo Fisher Scientific is responsible for managing the growth and life cycle of existing custom biology services offerings as well as new service development within the Cell Biology Business unit. The successful candidate must have be dedicated to driving business innovation and be able to thrive in a fast paced, competitive market environment. Additionally, the successful candidate will be experienced in product development, leading cross functional teams, and have the ability to effectively communicate with all functional groups within the organization. The successful candidate will have a demonstrable ability to assess market needs from a customer focused perspective and be able to drive effective product development through cross functional partners including R&D, Market Development, Finance, Customer Service, and Commercial partners to bring these solutions to market. The Product Manager, Genome Modulation and Editing reports to the Sr. Manager of Product Management for Genome Modulation and Editing within the Cell Biology business unit which is part of the Biosciences Division (BID).

Expectations:

  • Proactively participate in the development of new services providing a customer focused perspective to drive R&D, Manufacturing and Marketing.
  • Manage the existing product life cycle via:
    • Creating, managing and monitoring business plans & road maps for new and existing services.
    • Establish services positioning recommendations and work with marketing development functions to develop and execute marketing strategies.
    • Drive growth of products through direct and indirect customer interactions.
    • Sales channel management.
    • Conduct and present comprehensive training to sales partners globally.
    • Provide technical support to sales teams, including assistance with presenting product and service solutions directly to customers.
  • Demonstrate an ability to successfully lead change within the organization
  • Analyze, interpret, and report out regularly to management in regards to sales forecasts, programs, market and channel trends and competition.
  • Apply business acumen and high level problem solving skills to take on business challenges and expand market share.
  • Understand how our customer’s businesses operate and demonstrate knowledge of policies, practices, trends, technology, and information affecting the organization and industry.
  • Act in a results oriented manner; be proactive and solution driven, demonstrate the ability to think critically and overcome hurdles to complete tasks.

The ideal candidate has:

  • BA/BS in the Life sciences
    • Advanced degree (MS, PhD) and previous research experience a plus
  • Experience with Cellular and Molecular Biology techniques
  • Min. 5 years industry experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work in a multinational/multicultural environment
  • Global business acumen
  • Broad technical capabilities consistent with life science market segment
  • Experience with forecasting, budgeting and analysis of business situations, competitive profiles and pricing analysis
