Airbnb's various functions embody the company's innovative spirit and our fast-moving team is committed to leading as a 21st century company.

At Airbnb, if there’s anything related to money, it comes to the Payments team.  We are building a world-class payments platform - one that currently supports 220 countries, +60 currencies, connects dozens of payment providers and banks, processes multiple billions of dollars, and empowers more people to participate in our global marketplace.

About the role

As a Payments Product Manager for Payins, you will be responsible for defining and implementing strategies that help Airbnb manage payments costs. This is a high leverage role at the heart of Airbnb’s Payments platform. This role will work closely with leaders within Payments and with various teams across the company including Finance, Partnerships, Engineering, Legal, Compliance, and Guest Experience. In this role, you’ll take the lead in driving product strategy to reduce Airbnb’s cost of payments by identifying, coordinating, and launching new, cost-efficient guest payment capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Partnerships, Finance, Design, Data Science, and Payments Compliance teams to define and align a vision and strategy for payments cost efficiency
  • Ideate and lead the long term vision for delivering new payment capabilities that are consistent with greater org-level payments cost strategies and priorities. Ensure the plan is grounded in reality and evolves as needed to align with organizational goals
  • Help define the framework and metrics to measure the impact of the team’s offerings
  • Develop a deep understanding of Airbnb’s payment stack to move money between guests, Airbnb, and hosts, as well as the related business, technical, financial and operating levers to successfully drive new product launches and address payments capability gaps
  • Leverage your payments domain expertise to drive innovative payment services and processes, while simultaneously taking a user-centric approach to identify and evaluate opportunities and risks
  • Implement best in class product development and management practices
  • Lead cross-functional groups to deliver on the team’s mission

Requirements & Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of PM experience, with 5+ years leading ambiguous and ambitious global payments projects
  • Familiarity with per-transaction cost-of-payments over various payment schemes (e.g. credit, debit, real-time payment networks) and ability to identify and drive new cost-effective alternatives and capabilities in partnership with Engineering, Finance, and Partnerships.
  • Strong background in product strategy, go-to-market, development of value propositions, knowledge of how payments ecosystems work, demonstrated success delivering results, measuring performance, and ensuring accountability
  • Proactive and creative problem solver who enjoys working backwards from highly ambiguous starting points by leveraging data, running experiments, and following a structured approach to build use cases
  • Strong ability to lead both by authority and by influence; effectively collaborate with and influence business partners
  • Able to communicate what is possible and what will have the biggest impact on the business
  • Strong communication skills to all levels of the organization, and can distill complex technical information to payments and non-payments stakeholders

The starting base pay for this role is between $152,000 and $207,500. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: education, experience, and skills. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
