Eaton’s Digital Office Utilities division is currently seeking a Product Owner to join our team supporting the GridAdvisor Smart Sensor product line. This position is based at our Plymouth, MN facility. This role can work remote as well! The primary function of the Product Owner works closely with the Product Manager with responsibilities for market assessment, product development prioritization, technical sales support, and product development project consulting. You will support Eaton’s GridAdvisor Smart Sensor product line (here). We are seeking a self-motivated and capable of making independent decisions concerning project priorities and must be capable working with our global teams to accomplish objectives. This position will be responsible for answering technical product and application questions for our customers, sales force, engineering, and other departments within the organization. The preferred applicant has a technical background in electrical engineering and communications networking. The preferred applicant has previous work experience or knowledge of electrical distribution systems. The preferred applicant is versed in Distribution Automation concepts, SCADA applications, and has an understanding of embedded controls, embedded control designs, and server and client-based software applications. The preferred applicant is familiar with Agile development concepts and is comfortable writing user stories and having technical discussions with development engineers. In this function you will: Develop and manage product backlog and release planning, serving primary product expert and liaison between marketing and engineering/manufacturing. Develop, communicate, and manage the prioritization of user stories describing product functionality requests from customers and prospects considering market trends. Collaborate regularly with the Eaton engineering team and other Eaton product stakeholders to discuss product functionality and use cases. Participate in regular Agile scrum ceremonies including daily scrums, Sprint reviews, planning, and retrospectives, and regular backlog refinement meetings. Support the development of all product collaterals, pricing structures, samples, and working with Product Line Managers, Marketing Managers, and Marcomm for PR, advertising, tradeshow and customer testimonial development Lead the development and maintenance of various technical marketing collateral including technical documentation, application notes, FAQs, product notes, user guides, field training presentation content and demos Establish and maintain hands-on, in-depth knowledge of competitors including business model, solutions, and products. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution. Minimum 4 years of experience in managing moderate to high complexity digital products. Experience working in Agile development methodologies. Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future. Preferred qualifications: Knowledge of Distribution Automation solutions like Fault Location, Isolation, and Service Restoration. Knowledge of Protection Controls like Reclosers and Relays. Knowledge of communication networks. Knowledge of distribution system device protocols like DNP 3.0, IEC 61850, ModBus, etc.). Knowledge of inter-related utility technologies such as SCADA, data concentrators, communications, and enterprise applications. Position Criteria: Knowledgeable in the electric utility industry. Collaborative team player. Self-starter who requires minimal supervision and direction. Proven ability to communicate complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences. Strong technical background specifically related to the product line. Strong problem-solving skills / excellent verbal and written communication skills.
