Google's custom-designed equipment makes up one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. The Manufacturing Operations team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google’s powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you’re right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google’s infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google’s infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.

As a Product Quality Engineer, you are a manufacturing engineering professional on quality and have the leadership skills to pursue product quality activities with cross-functional teams, Engineering teams, the Contract Manufacturer (CM), and Suppliers. In this role, you will lead and manage the CM Quality team to identify risks and clearly communicating goals to project stakeholders. You will take initiative and break down complex challenges or vague tasks in a comprehensive plan to develop, check, and make improvements in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Enable individuals to set the proper quality priorities and put risk mitigation plans in place. Drive DOE and collect SPC data to enable evaluation, qualification, and verification cost-effectively in manufacturing quality across functional teams.
• Define and implement Product Quality Plans during development phase. Participate in Design for Quality review process with Engineering and Manufacturing Partner. Implement production quality metric integration, deep-dive both design/process controls and audits at offshore CM.
• Define specific cosmetic requirements at product and key component level and communicate with Manufacturing Partners to implement in quality controlled process.
• Align FATP IQC and Supplier OQC Plans and measurement techniques.
• Manage factory quality issue escalation process, address manufacturing quality related issues discovered during NPI and MP Phase.
