Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is responsible to support product stewardship activities of the AMER group of the Electrical Sector concerning: Substance-related regulations, Extended producer responsibilities and Eco-design requirements applicable to products developed and manufactured by AMER group. The position holder will support the development and implementation of product design tools integrated into the PROLaunch NPI process. The position holder will act as resource to consult and support product teams in the divisions regarding the eco-design execution in NPI- and VAVE-projects. The position holder will help supporting the businesses responding to customer inquiries related to materials declaration of the AMER Products, creating/maintaining proper documentation for the products ready to declare. Incumbent will help to maintain the compliance status of existing products and takes necessary steps for obtaining compliance information either from design review, supplier solicitation or analytical testing. The position holder will support activities related with Eco-Design projects and initiatives; tasks and projects related to Extended Producer Responsibility policies for the CRDS and PCDA Divisions. (TBD) ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Advocates Eaton’s commitments towards sustainable development in the engineering community of the electrical sector. Understand and implement materials-related regulatory requirements given in the Screening Tools, Methods and Tools provided by the PSCoE Group Supports new product development programs regarding the execution of the Design-For-Compliance process for ensuring that materials-related requirements are met. Maintains the compliance status of products in SAP/EHSM and manages compliance assessments as result of new or updated regulatory requirements. Tracks and reports the overall product compliance status on the divisions/countries assigned by developing analytical product compliance status reports. Supports AMER divisions to achieve product compliance by re-designing or replacing non-compliant components. Generates product compliance declarations for market authorities and customers from our Environmental Health and Safety Management (EHMS) SAP module Request and coordinate shipments of materials with the Divisional/Site POC for analytical testing of materials in external and external laboratories Applies new design principles, tools and methods to address and reduce product lifecycle emissions (“Design for Climate Change”). Implements methods to quantify circularity such as recyclability, re-usability, durability and disassembly of products. Supports new product- and VAVE-programs regarding the execution of the eco-design process (“Design for Compliance/Climate Change/Circularity – DfC3”) for ensuring that internal and external eco-design-related requirements are met. Supports activities related to lifecycle assessments and environmental product declarations. #LI-AR7 Qualifications SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE: 2+ years of experience in product-related environmental compliance management and/or eco-design Degree in engineering or the hard sciences (e.g., electrical-/mechanical- engineer, environmental science, material science, chemistry or alike) from an accredited institution Travel required up to 25% of the time in North America (Canada, United States & Mexico) The position can be based in either Montreal, Canada; Juarez, Mexico or Haina, Dominican Republic Relocation will be provided in the country of hire Position Criteria: Comprehension of industry, regional, and country product stewardship-related requirements. Ability to collect, understand and communicate complex product-related requirements. Strong team-building skills. Strong organizational skills including ability to manage large number of disparate projects and to track projects through completion. Thorough knowledge of product-related design, production, and use practices. Adept at utilization of company-wide system for product-related data management. Ability to demonstrate managerial courage (e.g., managing varied interests representing potential conflicts).
