Job Purpose:

This position will be the main support for all R&D activities within their respective site(s) including but not limited to the trials and start-ups of new products, packaging, processes and raw materials.

 

What we are looking for:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, Engineering or related degree
  • Passion for working in a food manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing plant
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a food manufacturing environment
  • Green Belt Certification
  • Working knowledge of product development

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the effective execution of line trials, qualifications and process capability evaluations.
  • Execute test plans and use SPC data analysis to quantify key process and packaging machine parameters and fundamental mechanisms at both pilot and factory scale.
  • Maintain scalable Standard Running Conditions (SRC’s) collaboratively developed with Product Development and Process development to achieve exceptional product attribute targets and ensure superior product quality and food safety.
  • Provide SPC support to Supply, Quality, Process Development & Product Development on existing processes.
  • Utilize CI/Lean tools such as Six Sigma and FMEA to ensure our products and processes are efficiently optimized with quality and cost in mind.
  • Work as part of the R&D team to assist in the scale-up risk and introduction of technology into supply chain.
  • Support site activities which improve run rates, reduce waste and improve product quality.    
  • Project coordination and management (time, funding and resources)
  • Understand and follow safety process and protocol
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders (RDT/SUPPLY/ENG/Q&FS) in the handover 1 process to site when there is:  a process related change, new formulation or raw material that impacts current specification.
  • Own/Drive the Handover 2 process at site. Provide any training related to the activity and ensure all documentation is completed for handover.
  • Participate in problem solving and troubleshooting activities to resolve product or process related issues that impact quality, cost and efficiency at the site with appropriate escalation protocol back to central team. Develop troubleshooting guide for shift associates in areas such as extrusion.
